Blackhawks get out of a $4 million contract and can step up their tank, Oilers pick up Perry at league minimum without having to give up any assets in a trade or have any team retain salary.
It's interesting that whatever he did was bad enough to justify contract termination yet only kept him from playing in the NHL for what, 2 months?
Seems like a win for everybody except the integrity of the league.

Did a triple take seeing Noah Dobson’s name on the list for top 50 in points. Can anyone enlighten me as to what he’s done to be a team-leading point scorer as a defenseman? Like I’ve liked this kid since his draft year but I never saw him as a f***ing ppg+ defenseman.

Holy overpay, Batman!
I'd say this makes Vancouver a real threat in the west. Though I also think it would be hilarious if they made this trade for Lindholm, are unable to extend him AND lose Pettersson to free agency in the same offseason.
He can still get offer sheeted.
With Hronek and Pettersson as RFAs and Lindholm as a UFA, if the Nucks want to keep all 3, that's going to be close to, if not more than, 25MM in cap space. That'll leave then anywhere from 5-10MM in cap space to re-sign players to fill out 3 forward slots (at least) and 4 D-Slots and 1 goalie slot.
Someone comes in at 12-14MM or more a year for Pettersson with an offersheet, they may have to let him walk.
