It is more he didn't aim away as Lauzon was clearly there 10 feet in front of him, and that doesn't happen ever let alone often at your own blueline. I also believe he did aim at him.
I think he aimed for the net, but we will never know.

Judging by Lauzon's reaction I think we do. Players don't react that way after getting hit with the puck from blocking a shot. Players are also pretty good at gauging when something is on purpose. Even TB's teammate checked on him before joining the scrum, which also wouldn't happen from a normal shot block.

$2k fine. Whoopdeee dooo. Clown league.

Any word on Joseph getting punishment for what he did to Larkin? Perron will have an in person hearing apparently.

Joseph isn't going to get anything. And I say this as someone who can't stand the guy.

It was a dirty play by him in front of the net but it wasn't that alone that led to Larkin's injury. Joseph's crosscheck pushes Larkin forward and then Kelly comes in with a crosscheck and catches Larkin in the jaw with a butt end (I don't think Kelly meant to butt-end Larkin but Larkin's head was lower after Josephs crosscheck).

It was a 1-2 punch and in isolation neither really meets the bar for what the league typically suspends players so I can't see them doing anything. Which is incredibly frustrating as a fan after you think you just saw the Wings captain die on the ice.

Any recent updates on Larkin? All I can find is that all initial scans came back negative - I'm assuming this is for brain injuries or broken bones.

yeah all i've seen is the scan thing too but sounds like he's fine hopefully

I imagine they'll probably just watch him for a while at this point and make sure he stays that way

I assume it is for torn muscle, bones and brain. It is good news for sure. He will probably has to go through some extensive physical testing to see how he responds.

Sort of interesting situation in the FLA v CBS game, Gudranson got boarded bad by Nick Cousins. They reviewed it and changed it from a 5 min major to a 2?!

Which of course set off Gubranson who later on went after Cousins who turtled like a bitch.

More poor handling of dirty hits by the officials in the league.

I didn't see that hit in particular but I've seen the refs call a major so they can review it. But then as it sounds like happened in the FLA game, it pisses a lot of people off when you think someone's getting a major for a bad hit and then they reduce it to a minor.

It's not a great solution.

Think you should see this one, it is a no doubt five to me.
Oh I wasn't weighing on whether it should be 5 or not. Just that calling a 5 when they're not sure to review and then downgrading is always gonna piss people off.

It seems like there should be a way they can review without having to call it anything. Though admittedly that requires discretion and we know how great the refs are at that.

Wings have taken what 2-3? of those this season with a single minor to show for it?
Honestly the some of the Wings ones were worse. Like Strome never extends his leg, Connor actually does because of the cut he takes. The Wings have had a few this season where the other player blatantly extended the leg into the knee on knee.

Wow, Armstrong is just as dumb as Yzerman, huh? Vrana is a potential 40-goal scorer!!
Yep, he is already getting the same fan criticism that SFY did . I don't wish any ill will on JV, but seems to be the same story every stop.

Finally saw the hit. That should definitely be 5. And what a turtle by Cousins.

If Gudbranson had stayed down on the ice due to injury, the refs keep that a 5. Luckily because he wasn't seriously injured they downgrade it to 2. So stupid.

Any decision based on if the guy got hurt or not is so idiotic to me. Was dumbfounded listening to Craig Button say it was the right call for just two minutes because Cousins was going for the shoulder. Yeah Craig but he didn't get the shoulder now did he.

How many crosschecks in the face look like they were going for shoulder but didn't. You just don't get absolved because didn't mean to.
