An update on a few of our recently departed Wings, not upset with the results
Filip Zadina - 21 GP - 3G 2A -19
Jakub Vrana - 17 GP - 2G 4A -1
Anthony Mantha - 18 GP - 5G 2A +2 (best of the bunch)
Dominik Kubalik - 20 GP - 4G 1A -11 (was pointless and a -1 tonight)
Adam Erne - 12 GP - 0G 1A +2
All of these guys in the moment I wanted to maybe keep around in some capacity, except maybe Mantha who I was pretty much over when we moved him.
The offense moved out vs brought in this season must be pretty significant. 24 points total between these 5 this season so far.

This is crazy. Mantha has the best production, and Zadina has better production than Vrana.
Really surprised over Vrana's low production. Hope he's well otherwise.

Honestly of that list Kubalik is the most surprising to me. I thought he'd be putting up numbers better than that.

Not a criticism of your take, I know there were a lot of people who liked Kubalik, but... I could just never see the appeal. I understood why he was on the team, we needed offensive depth, and he could provide some with his shot and offensive instincts. He checked a box on paper. But he was otherwise very frustrating to me. A highly-inconsistent floater who almost never drove play in any way. He was purely complementary to an offensive attack, with nothing else to offer, and if he wasn't on top of his game, he wasn't even that.
Juxtapose against Sprong, who I thought was going to be more of another Kubalik, but who has turned out to be a bit more, purely because of his aggressive puck pursuit. Sprong is still a very incomplete player who needs sheltered minutes, like Kubalik, but at least when he is out there he isn't just trying to sit in a pocket waiting for the puck. He'll go after it, he'll retrieve, and he'll help drive play in that way. His motor helps him be a lot more consistent than Kubalik. Kubalik didn't have a motor, he had an empty hamster wheel where a motor should have been.
