Again, breaking or not breaking the law is irrelevant.

(e) to conduct himself on and off the rink according to the highest standards of
honesty, morality, fair play and sportsmanship, and to refrain from conduct detrimental to the
best interest of the Club, the League or professional hockey generally.

That's what's on the SPC.
I already said it before, vague "catch all" clauses rarely stand up in court. Richards got arrested for illegal drug possession trying to cross the border, so that already defines what the NHLPA will file a grievance for.

What I suspect (and I have no concrete evidence at all) is that he did something that wasn't consensual. At this point Chicago is so far under the microscope, that even coping a feel from a team employee would do it. Maybe he grabbed Connor's ass, not his mom's, lol.

I doubt Connor's mom had anything to do with it, aside from maybe reporting the issue if Connor was the victim.

That wouldn't get him breached and not successfully appealed.

There is a butt grabbing rumour about this, just not Bedard related, but former player daughter related. Kaplan said it involved an employee of the Hawks, so clearly he did something to a non player as players don't get described as employees in this context.

Obviously, I was joking..... but I don't doubt it was something along the lines of your thinking.

BTW, get some sleep dude, lol. I'm west coast, just got home from a bar because I'm not working tomorrow.

Go ahead and pretend. I didn't say it, others claiming to be lawyers did, and believe it or not, some people tell the truth. I heavily doubt affair with teammates mom would make it through any NHLPA appeal of termination, when it took a boatload to get Mike Richards terminated for breaking the actual law.

I mean, I don't think the allegation he slept with Bedard's mom is anything more than a silly internet meme. But it was an uncontested contract termination, not unlike what happened with Zadina, though the motive for initiating it was obviously much different. So whatever it was, clearly Perry doesn't want that getting out there or he (and by extension the NHLPA) would be contesting it. The NHLPA would only be appealing it if the player wasn't in agreement. They did not involve themselves in Zadina's situation for the same reason.

I honestly thought all of this was obvious. The rumor he banged Bedard's Mom is clearly a joke meme. He obviously did something super serious and was given the boot. How do we know it was super serious? No one wants to talk about it or fight it.

So suggesting we sigh him is....?

A) Funny
B) Cool
C) None of the Above

I'll go with C.

Depends on the context. Suggesting we sign him because we want to bring all of our late 2000s villains on the team to help us win? Funny. Suggesting we sign him because we should sign people who SA other people? Not cool. It's all about the context :)

Fair. But in general I prefer to keep the roster that I cheer for completely free of highly punchable faces.

I guess. The fact I thought he was previously a scumbag then he did something more recently doesn't mix well for me. But to each their own.

Not to mention the fact that, even setting aside any character issues, there are probably 13-14 forwards already in the organization I would prefer on the roster over him.

Do I think Perry's contract was terminated because he slept with Connor Bedard's mom? No, I do not. Is it possible in theory? Of course. It all depends on what's in the contract. And we don't know what's in there. I agree that the catch-alls don't typically hold up in court, but if the Hawks added something more specific in the contract that was agreed to, it is entirely within the realm of possibility.

Now the rumors have evolved. Reportedly, it involved an employee, and allegedly it wasn't criminal. Latest rumor around Chicago is that it involved a former player's daughter. I won't say who that is, but I will say I pity the fool who gets on Chris Chelios's shit list

Is Caley Chelios still broadcasting for the team?

I guess I shouldn't be surprised at who is dying on the hill of "banging Connor's mom could be true and the reason for contract termination."

In other threads? I have 0% belief he banged his mom. I'm just saying in the scope of what it means to be on a team and the language of the SPC it's not a stretch to considering banging a teammate's wife/GF/mom/daughter(of age) etc... a terminable action.

That's not a step you take with the expectation that it won't impact the team in any way. And with that in mind... Guess what you're in breach of the clause c/p'd above. Perry did nothing with Bedard's mom and Bedard will still hear that the rest of his career if not from players then dumbass fans. So had Perry done so, which I don't believe he did, yes he'd 100% get yeeted out of the locker room.

Don't confuse a theoretical discussion by someone that is bored with a belief that Corey Perry is Bedard's new daddy.

Actually we do. Every player signs a SPC due to the CBA. There are older versions of the SPC on the web if you do a search. Players can add NTC or NMC, but there is not a Connor's mom clause of any sort.
We don't. SPCc you find online are just templates (there's also an SPC template in the CBA itself). There is a section of SPCs that allow teams to include their own rules. In addition to the team and the player/agent, the NHL and the NHLPA must sign off on them, but they can be included and also be counted as qualifying for material breach of the contract should they be broken.

Unless there there is a copy of an SPC from a recent Blackhawks signing, we don't really have any clue what's in Perry's SPC.

Again, I don't think Perry got with Bedard's mom (or if he did, it has little or nothing to do with his contract termination), but in contract theory, anything is possible (within reason) so long as all parties agree to it at the time of signing.

You mean JT Compher’s future RW.
Stamkos strikes me as the kind of player that, if he ever leaves Tampa, has enough skill and enough of a name that somebody will grossly overpay for him and immediately regret the results of the twilight of his career.

I still like the player. I'm just not optimistic that he could ever be had by the usual Yzerman discount type of deal.
