Norris seems to make his comeback for Ottawa tonight, it has been ~1 year. Will be interesting to see how he will do, especially with regard to Saturday.

I still think the fan rivalry over the summer was embarrassing but it's kinda funny that we're tied with Ottawa atop the Atlantic lol.

I’m a bit worried about Saturdays game. OTT owned us last year and they’re looking good this year, even if it hasn’t been against the same level of teams as us.

If we keep this pattern and having two good periods and one off period like we did with NJ, TB, or PIT, we may have a tough game.

Meh. Let's find out what they're made of. Looking forward to it.

I'd like to win so bad but am keeping my expectations in check. Senators are just in a different part of their build than we are. Most theirs guys have graduated up to the team while we still have a ton of placeholders.

I am very interested to see the game Saturday. Ottawa stole our lunch money in those two back to back games in their barn.

Then their fan base spent the summer mouthing off about how they were better than us during the DeBrincat rumors. Where do these morons come off talking down to us?!?!

Time to take that bunch of punks and their idiot fan base and put them back in their place. Well behind us, as the perpetual losers that they are.

LGRW!

And have a greater number of interesting pieces yet to play regularly in the NHL. Ottawa better do their damage over the next 2-3 seasons before Detroit passes them altogether.
Meh. Let these pieces make the team first and see if they are as good as Norris/Pinto/Sanderson etc.
I get that Ottawa isn't as deep in their prospect pool (they still have some depth guys in the system though), but then again, all of their pieces graduated already and play on a pretty high level. The majority of them are locked up as well. So when people point out that Ottawa lacks non-NHL prospects, who cares? The average age of Ottawa's core is like 22 or so, and they have multiple potential 40 goal scores, #1 d-men in there included. Sanderson currently doesn't look any worse than Seider.

Well it's sort of understandable since the Senators won the Cup last season.

Wait... they did, right?

Because that's how some Sens fans were acting after those couple Wings games. Then it seemed to get quieter around May. Weird.

Honestly it would be nice to see us develop a bit of a rivalry there. I'm expecting some bad blood with it being DBCs first game since the off season. Wings seem to be responding much better physically than last year so I am expecting a good game.

I also agree with the above on young core vs prospects. One thing to be said though is the need for prospects to help supplement depth when you lock up guys on big contracts. Chi did a great job of this during their run. There was always another man up to help support the team with Toews & Kane on big contracts. You still eventually run out of juice like they did but you can have an extended run if you keep guys coming up.

Detroit will be in good shape if they stay focused getting revenge via the scoreboard. I fully expect Ottawa to play physically from the jump and goon it up again the moment they get behind.

If the Wings stick to their game and remain disciplined, I like their chances. If they fall into the trap and get into penalty trouble, that's advantage Senators.

You mean better do their damage this season and next before they're fully cap crunched. Ottawa looks like a team destined to spin their wheels in the mud kind of like a poor man's version of the 2016-2022 Calgary Flames.

I could see them catching lightning in a bottle and having one deep run before it catches up to them...

...but then I'll get all that delicious schadenfreude when entitled fans keep expecting success and are instead met with frequent flyer miles at the golf course.

I truly appreciate this snark. Me personally though, I need to see the Wings bring us something on Saturday. Just the way those two games unfolded last year...

I think we got some more guys who arent afriad to run people over. Fischer and Kostin play tough, and Kostin clearly isnt afraid to fight if he has too. Raymond wont be getting knocked over as easily. I can see the game being alot closer, but Detroit needs this victory imo. After getting pushed around those two games, and their fans? Must win.

I was thinking I'd be OK with whatever outcome as long as we see some pushback, but I think I'd rather see us push first and let the Sens worry about the pushback.

Zadina scores and has 2 in 3 games with San Jose. Looks amazing out there too
Svech did well for a short stretch with SJS (3 pts first 4 games) and WPG (3 pts 5 games).

I just watched his goals, he's flinging the puck at the net. Neither goal was a high IQ goal, though I think his first goal was a pretty good play. Skate to stick, turn around shot, low glove. The kind of play he didn;t make while with the Wings.

But anyways, Copp has 3 goals in 4 games without even beating a goalie with a shot. (Stuffed a rebound, redirection, and EN) Low sample size can make for interesting stats. Neither player will sustain that pace.
