Around the League Thread Part IV

Leafs top of the list…!? You betcha! Loathe me some Leafs fans. These guys think that the world/league revolves around the Leafs.

Surprised Vegas fans aren’t up there, yet…

Not sure who was worse, Wedgewood or Gibson. I'm gonna go with Gibson and his 6 goals on 21 shots. ARZ ends their 6 game losing streak.

Damn, brutal hit by Connelly. Didn't look malicious, but no way for Kero to brace himself. It was a blindside hit and he hadn't even touched the puck.

Yeah this type of hit is exactly what the NHL is trying to get rid of. Pretty much the definition of a Blindside. I believe Connelly knew what he was doing. Could have just tried to stop the puck but saw that Kero had his head turned and couldn't resist himself. The replay from the other angle shows Connelly looking at Kero the whole way. May have not look malicious but definitely a horsesh*t hit in my opinion. Don't ever want to get rid of hitting of course but blindsides are the worst especially when as you said he couldn't brace himself. Man it looked bad for Kero but hope he's okay. God forbid this would ever happen to a Kings player.

Was right smack in the middle of NYR's anti-Tom-Wilson arms race, so not sure what anyone else could have done, I'm pretty certain they were targeting Blais though of course that doesn't excuse them for being so stubbornly resistant to Buch

Easily hands down trade of the year. Buch has looked really, really good as of late for St. Louis.

"The Edge" on the NYR roster section was claiming Blake offered a 1st + Kupari, but NYR went with truculence.

Hard to believe NYR couldn't do better than that unless they were going for toughness.

Hakanpaa just knocked Eriksson Ek out of the game with a dirty hit along the boards, but tell me about how his knee on Doughty was just a big ol' woopsie doodle!

f*** the Stars

I'm watching this game as well. Hakanpaa has a little bit of Brown in him...Hits everything but is super careless. Takes a ton of dumb penalties. Hate to play against but ok with him on your team because of the physicality he brings in a 5/6 role.

Greener was a much better option and had at least half a brain.

Buchnevich was potentially heading into UFA after this season so I think there were only a handful of teams who had the cap space and motivation to sign him to a multiyear deal. It's also tough to trade a guy a week before free agency since some teams are probably thinking why should I give up an asset and extend Buchnevich (ended up getting 5.8 mil) when I can use that money on a free agent instead?

We traded more to get Arvidsson. Buchnevich has a higher cap hit by $1.5 million, but has contributed 11 goals and 29 points compared to Arvidsson's 6 goald and 14 points.

Whoops.

None of these cities should be paying anything for a new arena. Do what LA did with the NFL.

Maybe the professional leagues should commit to spending on one new stadium project a year for each of the teams. Let the owners pay for it. Every team gets a new stadium roughly every 30 years.
