What the oil really needs to do is dump McDavid and Draisaitl (Nurse too) they're just not leaders and Edmonton will never win anything with that core. That franchise has won 1 playoff series in the last 15 years. So dump them while their perceived value is high and get what you can.

Is this how that works?

Connor McDavid is 24 years old, and this forum is just getting worse and worse about missing the point on purpose to mock someone else.

This is McDavid's 7th season in the NHL and Draisaitl's 8th. That team has poor secondary scoring, a bad and overpaid defense, awful goaltending, and not a lot of hope to change things quickly. How much longer until one of them starts to raise a stink? For a little perspective, Draisaitl is the same age Kopi was when Kopi was winning his second Cup.

Obviously its a lack of leadership, McDavid has been captain for what 6 years now?

That's not the purpose of the statement though.

If it were a sudden honest discussion of Edmonton as opposed to obvious poster mockery, sure, especially of the kind we just got done talking about not even 24 hours ago.

Meh, it's a fair point though, is it dead on accurate, no.....but the sentiment is the same....and sorry not sorry if someone gets their feelings hurt over an idiotic thought that not one pro sport teams would ever do, and it ONLY looks right in hindsight.....too bad, that's the case.

If EDM doesn't win in the next two-3 years, does it make it a better point? No, it's still an idiotic point, you don't trade your top players in their prime, unless there is another reason (disgruntled, Dubois - Laine trade) or you are getting great value back (Johansson - Jones trade) there hasn't been a superstar dealt in this league in the past 20 years that was traded because they didn't win, or that they won and wanted a new contract....it just does not happen, so when you have someone holding that position like it's the last hill to die on, yea, mockery and potshots are going to be the course of the day.

On paper and now with Eichel...they should be the favorites. Hate that team as well and Bettman stacking the deck for them while their pompous fans talk trash. Not too different than when Quebec moved to Colorado after the Lindros trade.

I’m reserving judgement until Eichel is back and taking in game contact. If he’s 100% they’d have a shot with good goaltending.

6-2 after 2 periods in the Winter Classic. -5 degree there... no thanks.

2 goals from Kyrou and 2 assists, all in the 2nd period.

Wish Vilardi was our Jordan Kyrou. :cry:

Montreal has a mess with COVID, but your golden cow and savior not producing is a whole other mess. And that's basically all they ask him to do.
