That's a lot of dough for a dude with about the same production as Iafallo.

that's so much f***in money man

i get that he's a heart and soul guy and i appreciate that but that's a big bag for a winger that appears to have peaked production-wise

Absolutely. He’s obviously more physical and they are definitely paying for what they consider to be his potential. It could easily blow up on them but either way they move him in 2-3 years as they don’t pay their guys. :naughty:

If I'm being honest, yeah, I'd rather see Turcotte over Kempe or Iafallo. If we can trade those guys for futures because Turcotte is ready, let's do it.

Kempe yes, AI no. Oddly though, Turcotte and AI play a somewhat similar game. Just hoping for Turcotte to add even more offense.

But you’re ok with Kaliyev on the 4th line?

Please show me where I ever said that? I'll save you the time, I didn't.

What would you think about turcotte over kempe or iafallo? Should he be given a shot to take a top six spot playing next to kopitar or danault? He was a top 5 pick i think its time.
Hendrix lapierre had a goal tonight cause oshie set him up. I would love to see the kings prospects get a chance like that.

I'd be open to it. I think we've established Iafallo is playing above his station for a while now and Kempe has had plenty of chances to step up during the lean years. At the least those two should get demoted for a bit just to let them know the lease is shorter this year if they don't produce.

Well, it's what we've been saying all along, welcome to the new dman market.

People bitch about Doughty's contract but when you have guys like Trouba on big money I'd much rather 'overpay' Drew by a million than pay my barely top pairing guy 8-9.5 (also see: Dougie Hamilton if not property insulated).

Seth Jones has the new worst contract for a dman. He was AWFUL in game 1 for Chicago. Anyway, year 1 of 8 starts…next year :)

That's why you have to consistently draft well and develop, even if you are chasing cups. You can't pay everyone 7 to 9 mil. You have to just let some dudes walk or trade them off and replenish with youth.

This female play-by-play announcer on the Ducks and Wild game is absolutely horrible.

I think it's an ESPN+ thing to have this broadcast crew... so disappointing for Wild/Ducks fans.

Also.... not as bad as Lias tripping on the mic cord while being announced at opening game but still....not something this kid will ever forget or his his teammates allow him to forget.

it's a hard watch.. wonderful voice for reporting or voiceovers or something, but she just has no place calling an NHL PBP, she's lost

I want to like her, but her flow and cadence are all over the place. Also, she seemed unprepared for both goal calls, rushing to catch up seconds after. Maybe she can fix it, but she definitely seems lost in the big leagues.

Do you think it was it a live feed, with the announcer there or was it remotely done? Some of her goal calls seems slightly behind at times.

There are about 4 or 5 guys who don't deserve that kind of money, but are now getting paid to put up points, and be average at best on defense. I'm ok with McAvoy getting a bit overpaid, he's the best defenseman who can actually play defense of the lot who just signed new deals. He not just a points guy like the others.

Her call on the first goal literally scared my wife and I. But I'm all for it, I'd rather listen to her than have to hear Hayward blather on. That guy's the f***ing worst.

With regards to the MacAvoy contract, that dude is such a good hockey player. I'd kill to have him on LA. He's one of the top defenders in the league even if the points aren't always up on the board. He'll be getting first-unit power play time this year though, so I wonder if we see a significant increase in point totals. McAvoy has been on the second unit for a while. He was behind Grzelcyk last year and Krug the three years before that.

Yea she was off a bit, but I will say her descriptions weren't bad. It was kind of refreshing to listen to someone who didn't say the same thing over and over, like a lot of announcers do. I still have nightmares from crap like "turn around shot" or "lose a puck, gain a faceoff", and I'm getting there from "pass gone awry". She didn't have a schtick which was nice.
