They just have a knack for that last-second goal. Hopefully, we get a full 60 minutes from the guys tomorrow.

Yea she was off a bit, but I will say her descriptions weren't bad. It was kind of refreshing to listen to someone who didn't say the same thing over and over, like a lot of announcers do. I still have nightmares from crap like "turn around shot" or "lose a puck, gain a faceoff", and I'm getting there from "pass gone awry". She didn't have a schtick which was nice.
It’ll probably take a few games for her to settle in. She will be very aware of an element (I’m NOT seeing here) that will be waiting for her to screw up and bitch about a woman doing PBP. Unfortunately it’s a thing and we have that exact problem in the UK with Premier League football. It’s got to add a whole extra layer of pressure when you’d already be pretty nervous.

i'm wondering if brownie took another knee home.. they came together knee on knee late in that game at the blue line, but it seemed like neither was hurt

League leading undefeated Buffalo sabres. o_O

Words I never thought I would hear at any point in the season.

He only had one short shift in the last 8 minutes, that was the one where Stephenson scored. He wasn't involved at all. The only time I saw him wince was after he ran into Petersen, so it's karma if that was it. He might have said something when he went down, maybe why Lemieux laid off.

i'd pay good money to see one of our guys headbutt someone sometime

i was getting all riled seeing iafallo trade face washes last night, that says something about the state of this team in that department

I had the exact same thought.

Toronto's risky cap management is already having adverse effects

https://www.prohockeyrumors.com/2021/10/east-notes-blue-jackets-bishop-holl-niku.html

  • The Maple Leafs have signed goaltender Alex Bishop to a one-day amateur tryout deal, David Alter of The Hockey News is among those reporting. The move is necessary with Petr Mrazek out with a groin injury but Toronto can’t make the money work to recall another goalie from the minors. The 24-year-old plays at the USports Level with the University of Toronto. Once they play tonight’s game, they’ll be given approval for an emergency (cap-exempt) recall. Toronto can’t send defenseman Timothy Liljegren down to make room for netminder Michael Hutchinson as he’s needed with blueliner Justin Holl unavailable due to a non-COVID-related illness; Toronto’s electing to play down a backup goalie over only dressing five defensemen.

Wasn't this the same teams' fanbase bitching about how Tampa used a cap loophole for Kucherov for the playoffs? Maybe isn't as big scale, but how is this any different really? Both are legal.

Painkillers are obviously a bigger problem than fans understand. I think overall it's getting better as guys take more preventative measures now, with fitness, diet, and so on, but they are always going to be around to some extent.

It's easy to say something should be done, but realistically, it's difficult to come up with a solution. You could ban some of them, but they are usually broken down pretty rapidly so how do you even test for it? And e000ven if you limit team doctors to safer alternatives, some players are going to seek out other solutions if that's what they need to stay on the ice - especially bubble guys. It's been a reality in sports for a long time, guys do whatever they can for an edge. It used to be roids, and now it's painkillers and other PED's. Unfortunately I never see it changing, there is just too much money at stake.
