Will be great for his long-term confidence either way. Now he knows what he CAN do in this league.
Yep, nice thing is terry and zegras play on different lines…. So it really helps balance out the team with 2 high skilled players.

it’ll be interesting to see how guys like mctavish + comtois and in the future pastujov and perreault fit in.

in a year or 2 the LA vs Ana games are going to be so much fun , lot of exciting players on the come up for both sides. Should make for great matchups

turcotte vs zegras
Byfield vs mctavish

the sniper battle
Kaliyev vs perreault

indeed man .

The Montreal fans are quite entertaining over Caulfield. Apparently according to some his 2 goals in 6 games makes him too good for the AHL and he was clearly bored and disinterested at that level. It seems to have gone over their heads that if that were true he has a major attitude issue. Personally I just think they’ve rushed him and it’s now hit his confidence and calling him up after just 6 games, with no time to learn anything and earn a -3 on the night will just further hamper him. I feel for the kid as he needs a bit of time before he’s expected to be their saviour but I guess the GM is trying to save his job.

My hot take--McDavid is already the best/most skilled player of all time. Gretzky will always be GOAT as the compiler, but I always thought it was a toss up between him and Mario for raw ability. I don't think he passes those two but I think his dominance amongst peers in an era where you can get dragged around is up there with Mario carrying dudes on him like a running back.

I have no ill will towards Caufield but I think it's funny that everyone outside of a lot of Montreal and a few extra fervent fans had this read on him all along, there was an adjustment period inevitable, and that joining a hot-streak team where Danault is eating 70% dzone starts makes you look a lot better than joining a basement team with no such insulation. A goal scorer like Caufield is an amplifier, not a play driver.

Does Gretzky really qualify as a "compiler"? Dude lead the Rangers in scoring the year he retired. It was also the first year of his career that he wasn't at least PPG. He could have gone on a lot longer if his back held up and he had the drive.

Penquins get Mario and than Crosby, Oilers get Gretzky and then McDavid.

Imagine how different both those teams would be if this did not happen. Pittsburgh likely is relocated. I wonder if Atlanta had won the Corsby lotto if they would still be there. McDavid in Buffalo sure would have changed them right?

Yup, he falls into the category of not being able to produce up to his own expected level. By every other determination he was still a stud.

Speaking as a massive Gretzky fan, greatest of all-time is Lemieux, Orr or Hasek. I'd go with Lemieux. Hasek's only issue with the GOAT tag is he didn't really crack the NHL as a full-timer until he was I think 27, but that was more a by-product of the time period he played in.

I had hoped Gretzky would have came back to go out having a better finish to his career and to take a run at 3,000 points and 900 goals. That plus finish on a playoff team.

I agree completely. In no way was I criticizing Caufield, just the commentary. So the stuff about him being disinterested was nonsense, he was struggling with confidence and wasn’t happy being sent down. The pressure he is getting is utter nonsense.

Comtois vs vilardi
Thrun vs faber

got a dance partner for Pastujov

Bruh, we got mad prospects for dayz...........

Funny thing is since Vegas joined the league and Perry left I dont hate the Ducks nearly as much. I watch all their games and find myself rooting for Zegras. Its more of a friendly hate than the hate for vegas and san jose.
I watch a lot of kings and follow a lot of their prospects... i dislike the sharks, vegas, and western canada teams more.

Im just excited at the prospect of having 2 terrific teams representing socal again.

I think it's just an unfortunate byproduct of a guy falling. Pretty hard to purposefully slew foot a guy while nearly horizontal.

I think the video speaks for itself. At 0:05 Lebanc kicks his feet before both of them get 'horizontal'. It's the reason why both of them went into the boards in that fashion in the first place.

Growing up as the smallest player on the ice my 'only' way to stand up for myself was the slew foot. I was able to hide it at least 50% of the time, even sometimes at center ice, but I knew what I was doing 100% of the time.

Similarly, Cooke knew exactly what he was doing against EK – it wasn't happenstance.

slewfooting is such a dirtbag move no matter your size. Wonder how many concussions you gave doing it?

Agree to disagree based on that video. The angle is horrible but at no point in the video is LeBanc ever completely vertical. I'd say he's already falling and the legs come out as a result. At 0:05 he's already well on his way down.

That's my take, too.
