Unless our PP/PK gets better, like, significantly better, we will regress eventually.

Luckily for us so far, we are playing mostly 5v5 this year. But good teams don't have bad special teams, and ours is currently very bad.
I think the PK is fine. They gave up 6 pp goals on consecutive games against Dallas and St.Louis. They've given up only 4 pp goals in the other 13 games.

The PP on the other hand :help:. They're at 18% but take out the 2 for 2 and 3 for 5 games agains Vegas and Montreal, they've only scored 5 PP goals and gave up 4 SH goals in the other 13 games.
Only a net plus 1 on the PP in 13 games. It does need significant change.

The bad thing about the PP is that's it's not snakebit, it's not generating chances. It looked good in preseason but that was misleading because it was mostly Tkachev/Andersson/Vilardi doing the damage. So far the coaches have been good at adjusting as the season is progressing, hopefully this gets ironed out too.

They are getting it in the zone, they aren't quick enough once they are there so some personnel changes are in order. To be fair, even though Doughty doesn't put up big PP numbers his absence is hurting. Other teams view him as a threat so it opens up room for others, so now the opposition just applies pressure and they know they won't be caught.

This. The problem we have with guys like Roy, Anderson, and to slightly lesser extent, Bjornfot, is their lack of offense. Or to your point, the threat or their offense, it's not there. So they can constantly put pressure on the puck handler on their PK knowing those guys lack the creativity to expose their aggressive play.

Avs shopping for a 2nd line winger and dangling Sam Girard, who will be a nice add for some team. Girard is signed thru 26/27 at 5M per year.

Trade Rumor: Colorado Avalanche Shopping Young Dynamic Defenseman - NHL Rumors - NHLTradeRumors.Me

According to Mike Chambers of the Denver Post, the Colorado Avalanche are open to trading defenseman Samuel Girard. The Colorado Avalanche are trying to upgrade their forward group and have been in contact with several teams about the young defenseman.

Would be very interested

Girard is on a pretty good contract, so I'm not sure what kind of value they are looking for. Kempe might get it done. He's not old, is cost-controlled, on a 50 pt. pace this year.

Ideally, I would rather trade some prospects, but they are going to want roster players.

Do the Kings really need another midget on the blue line?
100% agree. If and when the Kings make a big Dman trade giving up valuable players, I want said player being brought in to have some size and toughness. Yes we lack play making / PP from the D...but i feel like that is coming with DD back (whenever that be) and when Clarke is ready. I'm patient to wait. So unless we also find ourselves a big, mean SAH dman to go along with Girard, I'm a pass at this point in time.

Well DD should be back in a number of weeks so I say no when looking at the costs.

Would be nice to have two good PP units...or 1 really good.

Wanted Ghost last year on waivers to help the PP. I would think of Girard as the guy on the top, Doughty could then be on one side with Kopitar on the other. We have been wanted a LHD that can play power play for a few years now. So Drew coming back does not address that need for me, even with Clague.

How does this help the PP? :naughty:

Girard struggled against Vegas in the playoffs last year. Not a good look for players the Kings are looking to add.
