Turcotte is better than literally every prospect that Vegas has. Our picks are better than Vegas. Idk how you look at Kempe, Turcotte, 1st, 2nd and say Vegas has a better offer. I’m fine that we didn’t get Eichel, I’m mad that we weren’t in this conversation at this price.

In no universe is Kempe a comparable player to Tuch. Stop it.

I have to say that Sutter deserves some props for turning the Flames around to the start they've had. While his time was up in LA, there are times where I still wish this team had his kick-in-the-butt coaching style. I bet he leans on Trevor Lewis quite a bit at least

top line minutes when the right winger eventually ends up in his dog house. we all know how this story ends.

Let's calm down a little. Tuch even on a powerhouse team is a 40-50 point guy. Dudes on our basement offense get mocked for that production. He's an absolute truck and unique skillset for a 3rd line guy, but he's a selfish player like AA. If he can't drive the offense by himself, he'll rarely use his teammates. He's a good get as a complementary player but he's not some overly coveted building block, plays a pretty straight line power game. He's definitely better than Kempe but there's no way I take him over Iafallo, just as an example. I think some of you guys have VGK PTSD.

Riiight!!! Totally agree. Okay I was the one who said Tuch = Kempe, Crebs = Kupari etc but I think some of us value Tuch a lot more then others. Dude seems to always be injured the past few years. But to each their own I gots no problem with people thinking Tuch is better then Kempe and he probably is. My whole point was Sabres could have gotten a bit more and could have had Eichel for a cheap price. Actually liked Flames package better but oh wells.

Was hoping Calgary would get him. Sounds like the Tkachuk stuff was BS.
Calgary has not had a top line center since Nieuwendyk.

Eichel must be absolutely jacked. How much extra is going into his pocket due to income tax?

If he's back this season, it will be late, but the return seems about what you'd expect for a guy facing "artificial disk replacement surgery."

I wonder how this returns stacks up to offers this past summer. Freidman was saying Krebs was the guy Buffalo wanted from the get go, so was Vegas not willing to include him till now? I would have thought the return would have been more in the summer when he could have been healthy for the start of the season, or at least in the first few months.

Do we really know what offers were made? I only know they were looking for multiple firsts, top prospect, etc. It's still a haul, but I think less than what they wanted during the peak of speculation.

A friend of mine, a high level alpine skier with a bright future in the industry had this same surgery... twice (first time didn't take). Fast forward 2 years and he is now pursuing a career in sailboats. He will never ski the same way again, unfortunately. Spine shit is no joke.

Can anyone break down in a few sentences what Buffalo wanted to do differently than eichel about this injury? Thanks.

Happier we got Danault now. He'll be needed to shutdown Jack. Also happy Tuch is gone, he was the heart\grit of that team and was a steam roller against us.

eventually their lack of prospect pool will catch up with them right? I guess as long as players want to play there they will be competitive.

believe it boils down to the club wanting a fusion and eichel wanting a disc replacement, club claims fusion is proven in athletes and that replacement is not

Age and cap space will also be a factor. The turn around of players coming and going with eventually destabilize the chemistry.

Does Vegas need to do anything to be cap compliant once all their injured dudes come back?

Yes, they have like 11 guys taking up nearly the whole cap. It's gonna be a circus act balancing it out.

Yet Jack's camp I think (maybe it was a writer?) was pointing out UFC fighters have had it and jumped right back in the ring, so :dunno: (am I misremembering this?)

Agreed that spine stuff is no joke though, there could be any range of outcomes. It's risky no matter what access they have

Vegas trying to push through the closing window. At best, Eichel is back at 100% next season I think, and everyone else is a year older. Kudos for them for going for it but they don't have a choice really, their pipeline is not impressive outside of Dorofeyev and Brisson . The cost of building a winner right away rather than stockpiling youth.

More specifically, the club's preferred method is more proven to work for hockey players during their careers, but long term isn't preferred.

Eichel's preferred method is unproven in hockey players, but it has positive results for MMA fighters, and the long term is better.

That's my understanding of it.
