Yep. I am interested to see how this deal does affect other RFAs around the league that need contracts (lookin' at you, Kucherov!)

That came up on or just after draft day, when the Stamkos vs. all the other TB contracts, (including Bishops projected 7M) came up and the theory was he is looking for 6 to 6.5M per.

He was one of 7 Bolts that got qualifying offers today.

Haha just saw that they also have Matt Carle on a 5.5m AAV for another 2 years with a modified NTC.

LA definitely is not the only team with cap problems, and I think do to our lack of NMC LA sets up as one of the better teams to survive and expansion

Ducks didn't qualify Brandon Pirri.

Flames did not qualify Joe Colborne, and the Coyotes didn't qualify Jarred Tinordi.

Quite a number of former 1st round picks being let go as UFAs. Forbort should thank his lucky stars he wasn't, though who knows if he'll be waiver fodder come October.

I know Colborne it was to get rid of the threat of arbitration. The flames are still going to try and sign him.

I think it will be the same for J. Schultz. He will re-sign in pens for less than his qualifying offer which I think was $3.9M a year

Kings did that with Keaton Ellerby two summers ago.

Also of note, Brett Connolly was not tendered a qualifying offer by Boston. He was the sixth overall pick in the 2010 draft. He's the fourth guy from the first round in 2010 to not be qualified. Ouch.

Didn't they just give-up two second round picks for him like a year ago?

Plenty of reclamation projects available then. What do teams gain from not qualifying these guys in relation to the expansion draft? They don't have to protect them do they?

Save money, cap space, and contracts that an organization can have on its reserve list.

No, players not qualified won't have to be protected because they're unrestricted free agents now.

Some of these guys can still re-sign with their clubs though at a cap hit that's lower than what their qualifying offer would've been. Teams also do this to avoid arbitration with RFAs.

Trade deadline 2015 with Peter Chiarelli as GM. 15 months later, new management group obviously felt differently. Plus Connolly was given a healthy audition with Bergeron/Marchand and didn't produce. When Chiarelli got him, there was some hypothetical value to Connolly who was stuck behind better wingers in Tampa.

2010 is long enough where you can start labeling guys disappointments and busts, as you can see from all the non-tendered guys.

Back in the day guys in junior and college didn't have the coaching and strength programs they do today. Took longer to get to an NHL fitness and strength level. Now guys are contributing much much sooner.

Connolly was one of those guys who just peaked really young, I remember reading about him when he was much younger and how he was projected as a potential superstar type talent.

Just finished watching All Access on Showtime (since I just subscribed to Showtime). How I wish Showtime had bought rights back when we won the Cup twice, or at least HBO covered the SCF instead of the glorified regular season game they call Winter Classic. What a great job by Showtime.

Also, after seeing the clips of the Pens' rally, I'm still a little bitter that ****ing AEG were too cheap to have our rally outdoors. It was really a shame that only season ticket holders got to watch Quick throw F bombs live.

I'm not a season ticket holder and I went to both years rallys.

Pavel Datsyuk contract with SKA St. Petersburg #KHL is a 2 year/ 500M Ruble ($7.6M US) total deal.Expected to be signed end of this week.

If his off ice **** is making him available I would be game for looking at E. Kane depending on acquisition cost. I highly doubt if he is available DL looks at him just due to past off ice crap, and not wanting to go back down that road.

The player though I would want as a Lucic replacement.

No, just no. Nyet, Pass, No.

he's good for 20 goals min, and is a bit of a **** disturber which I like.

Like I said his off ice issues make him a no go for DL, but the one ice player I would want. However the only reason why he could be available is due to off ice stuff.
