When it come to selecting the World Cup starter, I love how the media always seems to point out that Quick has to make those acrobatic saves because he's out of position, while Schneider is always in perfect position and doesn't need to. Schneider won't be the starter, Torts will go with the guy who can and has won big games.

IMO Schneider is the best positional goaltender in the league. Two completely different styles.

Dang Canadians dropping like flies was that Giroux? Yeah look for world cup not happenin again.

that was an amazing game. If the exhibitions are like that, what will the tournament games be like?

Nasty. I didn't much of it but the little bit a I saw, the Russia Czaech game was nasty too. And I wonder if the nasty edge in last night's game will continue in the US Canada game tonight...(ESPN3)

So far, Sweden to me has looked like the best team the defense esp, so quick in moving the puck out. And Canada will need to be a lot better to get to the finals.

Gaudreau not signed yet because he wants 8M per on a LTC. Flames in the 6.3 to 6.7 neighborhood. He's a very skilled player but that's not realistic. He's asking 8 to get 7 and I wouldn't give him that yet.
GM's will be sorry that the bridge deal is becoming a thing of the past. Giving a player like him that much sets the bar higher than it should be for the others following.
And I don't think he's that much more important than Monahan. I hope Calgary stands their ground at 6.5 but I doubt it.

I don't think the bridge is a thing of the past.
But it's a double edged sword.
With the cap still managing to go up year over year, even if only slightly. You risk paying a player more.
I don't feel he's worth those numbers but in a few years the 8M could be considered a bargain. And you sign the bridge, like we did with Toffoli. He'll get more after it than we could have given him at the time long term. Ours was as much about needed his cap hit lower to have him fit as anything. But we could have probably gotten him at 5.5-6M. He'll now be a 7-7.5M player. And if that is where I see him he'll likely make even more. Which I really think is scary.
And with Gaudreau we are talking a player that was number 6 in scoring last year in his second year.
