Jonathan Huberdeau has agreed to a $35.4M, six-year extension with #FlaPanthers. That's a $5.9M AAV.

Good deal...

Is it really? Same AAV as Barkov and 20 goals, mayby Florida knows their players.

Yeah , I thnk it is, I think they know that he' a very talented forward who has averaged .63 ppg in his career and is only 23.

And usage and chemistry helped last year, in the 2nd half of the season when he was with jagr and barkov. He's gaining confidence and getting better and I think they know that is a trend that will continue. I like the Cats and watched a lot of their games last year and I noticed him and well he played.

Huberdeau, who became the first Panthers player to win the Calder Trophy award for being the Rookie of the Year in 2012-13, started slowly last season, but clicked in the second half with linemates Jaromir Jagr and Aleksander Barkov. He set career highs with 20 goals, 59 points and a plus-17 ice rating in 76 games while averaging a career-high 18:09 time on ice.

And something I noticed that some young players struggle with is knowing when to shoot, something he needs to work on...

He's got a good quick shot and the placement of his shots are good," Tallon added. "He's very accurate. I just want him to be a little greedier and to shoot first instead of always looking to make the pass."

Marc-André Bergeron will be at #bluejackets training camp on a tryout. He played the last in Switzerland. Great story. #tvasports

When it come to selecting the World Cup starter, I love how the media always seems to point out that Quick has to make those acrobatic saves because he's out of position, while Schneider is always in perfect position and doesn't need to. Schneider won't be the starter, Torts will go with the guy who can and has won big games.

Some comments from Toews on Muzzin. I love how non-West fans are still complaining.

"When he plays with Drew he complements Drew well because he's that guy that kind of wraps you up and you can't get away from him," Toews said. "He's got a great stick. He's a big, physical guy and even for his size (6-foot-3, 216 pounds), he moves well. Once in a while you have to look out for him too, because he's going to lay out that big hit.

"He's exactly what this team needs. We have a lot of speed and skill, but he brings that smart defensive play as well. He's going to make it really tough for other top forwards to play against."

I'm looking forward to see how the NA teams looks, I think they'll surprise a few teams. And another team that should do well is Sweden, really solid defense and goaltending.

Team NA and Europe 0-0 after 1

Team NA fun to watch, fast , talented and scary good....so much speed and skill...

Godamnit, I don't like the idea of Gaborik playing this tourney. I know Kopi is more robust so I'm not too concerned, but Gabbo is built like glass.

Serious don't know what the heck Gabs and Kopi doing on team EURO. They are old, slow and very bad. Just save it for the season. But Aint gonna lie soooo good to see hockey again.

Hurt in early September, hurt in early October, the middle of December, the 3rd week of February, what's the difference at some point with a guy like Gaborik? If he's going to get hurt again, he's going to get hurt again.

MacKinnon's penalty shot goal was sick...and I love this NA team, so much speed and skill and IQ, they know what to do and they do it. Played with more structure than I thought they would, they'll get better as they go along. So much fun to watch...
Team Europe, had nothing going for it, no chemistry, no cohesiveness on offense or defense. Short series for them.

Kopi was the only effective player for Europe. Wasn't too impressed with Gaborik or anyone else for Europe. I was very surprised by North America and how well they were playing right from the start.
