Yet the NFL draft manages to be a million times more entertaining

Pretty much every guy drafted by an NFL team is going to be on the team that year. Most guys are years away from even seeing a game in the NHL. There's a little more urgency. Easier to go for more immediate needs in the NFL. It's not always BPA to build up future assets.

Most of them are close to household names with the massive coverage of college football. When you think about it, college football is like the minor leagues of the NFL, with hundreds of prospects shown every weekend on ESPN.

The rules are ridiculous too. Sorry but there is no way a guy who last we heard can't even attend games because the noise gives him headaches should count against the cap. The Wings, well they should suffer a bit, but no way should the entire cap hit be counted against them because he chose to go home, the guy was still one of the 10-15 best centers in the NHL.

Yeah well done by the Panthers, that's a solid defense, though its a shame that Willie Mitchell got concussed so badly. That team reminds me of the Kings before they won the cup.

Man yeah. I'm pretty shocked. I thought he was pretty highly regarded....

From what I've read and this goes back over a year ago, there were issues with him and Jarvo, he didn't feel he was being given enough time , lost in the depth chart, and other stuff. Maybe that created a problem that just festered...I think he'll be fine with Babcock and add some size to their top 6.

And boy do the BJ's have some bad contracts...no wonder they're scratching to find $$ for Jones. They are at 69 M with Jones and Justin Falk needing contracts.

Some of the questionable contracts. that Tyutin one is painful...

When you start looking at the options of “Guys You'd Prefer To Not Pay In A Perfect World†on a league-wide basis, Columbus is the leader in the clubhouse by a wide margin. Brandon Dubinsky ($5.85 million until he's 35), Nick Foligno ($5.5 million until he's 33), David Clarkson ($5.25 million until he's 36), Scott Hartnell ($4.75 million until he's 37), Fedor Tyutin ($4.5 million until he's 34), Jack Johnson ($4.36 million until he's 31), and David Savard ($4.25 million until he's 30) are all clear problems for myriad reasons.

Interesting: STL takes Conner Bleackley 144th. He was a first-rounder by COL in 2014 and not signed. New start for him.

NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly says there will be ``determination'' made within the next couple of days regarding Jim Benning's comments

What did Benning say that the NHL needs a 'determination' on?

Tampering. Mentioned Subban by name on radio as a trade target. "Some team" filed tampering charges with the league. Benning is an absolute idiot...
