I don't think a full powered Winnipeg or Toronto team would have looked this overmatched by Vegas. Makes it even harder to stomach pissing that series away despite being down Tavares, Foligno and Muzzin.

That said, Vegas is a great example of good things happening when you persue the puck fearlessly in the offensive zone. Too many of our players glide into the corners tying up the D man... even when we win the puck battle it grinds the pace of our game to a halt.

Hope the Leafs are watching and learning what playing with pace means - its not just foot speed (though that helps and I hope we get faster), but fearless persuit and the puck and the willingness to take a hit to make a play.

Vegas is gonna sweep Montreal. Trap won't work on Vegas, they'll dominate and expose Montreal like they did in game one.

Boring game, but worth it to read Montreal fans excuses and whining. SOOOO worth that alone.

That game puts into prospective just how far away from competing we are.

The fact that the slow, lumbering smurfs in white who were just absolutely dominated in every facet of the game defeated us in a 7 game series is just absolutely hilarious.

They absolutely suck, and somehow we suck even more with three times the talent.

That was thoroughly entertaining. The only thing that could have made it better would be more goals for Vegas. Complete domination imo. Habs had a great start, and did generate a couple chances in the the first, but were ghosts in the 2nd and 3rd. Vegas made some quick adjustments and it was no contest from there. Man, Price is good.

Someone mentioned it above, its all about quick puck movements vs the Habs. Looking back at our Leafs, they hold on the the puck for a lifetime. We were 1 shot away from being in this series imo... despite all the doom and gloom. I'll be shocked if the Habs even make the playoffs next season (might be true for us too lol).

I hope the rest of the series goes like this... or evern better for the Knights.

I don’t look at the opportunity to get kicked in the ass by the Golden Knights to be a once in a generation opportunity. Our standard was very high coming out of the rebuild and the mission statement was to be in the Tampa Bay class and make short work of the Bruins. Win a Stanley Cup. There is so much work to do and it can be discouraging to think we might take some steps back. But the first step is to be clear headed about where we are as an organization and hope tough and correct decisions are made to get things back on track.

Well then here is some good news for you... Since we were declared the regular season Kings of the North we would actually be playing Tampa Bay this round and we would even have home ice advantage to boot.

That golden opportunity would have prevented us from getting kicked in the ass by Vegas, but rather getting our heads handed to us in a basket, by the defending Stanley Cup champs instead.

So its not as bad as you made it out to be. :wg:
