I remember in KHL when teams used to get eliminated their owners still used to hold practices as they were paid from not only based on games but end date

Leafs management should make it mandatory to watch other teams and summarize the game

What did they notice, what did they like and what they would differently

Because then they would see someone like Gourde putting up a fight against a D who 6'4 even when the game is tied

Good luck seeing that ever happen. The NHLPA would probably file a thousand grievances.

That was a great hockey game that had everything.

The first period was unreal and TB matched the Isle's intensity and took over in periods 2/3. Pretty rough call on the second TB goal with having 7 players on the ice.

TB is a great team who can play any style.

Hedman was an absolute beast this game.

Game 3 will be must watch tv with that NY crowd.

Yep. It's the problem of folks conflating hits with being good defensively. Anderson's reputation is far greater than his actual on ice impact.
Who conflates hitting with good defensive play?

I disagree. His impact is far greater than any stats you’re looking at, that’s all. He was involved in at least two goals (I think it was three) in the Leafs series where he made a play then drove the net and forced d to tag or collapse and open space high for teammates to make a play. This is an important detail that makes a positive impact for his team, and you don’t even see. He wouldn’t have got points on any of these, but he played a huge part in them.

Power forward doesn’t have to put up numbers to make a positive impact on play. Especially when you’re as smart, as nasty, and skate as well as Josh Anderson.
