During the game, Gary Galley was talking about Panarin and how when the game turns into a real meat and potatoes type game, he starts to disappear.

Really hit home as a current Leafs fan.
You can make do with 1. Not 4.
That’s why you pick winger Nylander or Marner and make the change.
Get a good 2C with some jam behind Matthews and you are changing the dynamic.

The Panarins and Marner types dont have a good track record in the NHL playoffs. Regular season sure, but they wilt in the playoffs. Patrick Kane is the exception. Kucherov has always been gritty/plays with an edge.

The effort on the game winner sums up his play….. seen a few “stars” play like that.
Hopefully that never gets rewarded in playoff hockey.

Yep we made the all in bet that these 4 to 5 players (if you include Rielly) would carry us to a championship and the fact we would be weaker at positions like D and G would be okay because we have all these superstars and you wont be able to stop them.

Marners one of the best defensive wingers in the game. Being a member of the botched coverage of Pasta in OT doesn't suddenly put him in a group that doesn't deserve to win.

This place has become wild.

*forgot to hit reply. Obvious what I'm replying to.

Panarin got a real shock going up against the Atlantic.

Leafs or Bruins would have had the same effect

8 yrs ago everyone thought they were good players. As we got to know more about them, on and off the ice, we could see the errors, however there’s no excuse for management.

Many said to move on after the Habs series. All I can't think is how does the coach allow his to keep playing the same way and making the same dumb turnovers? No way Berube allows him to do that shit.

Coaching was bad, but those guys have different priorities. Marner is the logical one to move, but I would take a long hard look at Matthews. It wouldn’t surprise me that he’s the source of the problems with the team.

Since 2004 the Leafs have won one round, the teams from the state of Florida have made it to the final 7 times.
The Panthers need a Cup to keep pace with their in state rival.

I've had concerns with Matthews since the Bruins series but no way Leafs move him. You gotta hope surrounding him with players like the Panthers surrounded Barkov works. That is why I liked the Tre hire. His teams in Calgary played the right way. Too bad all of them wanted out. LOL.

What grounds is there for saying this nonsense?

We could have really used that "effect" when non playoff teams like Columbus and Montreal eliminated us.
We were too soft against those teams.

Leafs were heavy bruisers in the d-zone this year along with the bruins and panthers.

There are some red flags that I’d look into further if I was Pelley- his locker clean out comments and the company he keeps.

Better hope not, because Matthews is the one guarantee to not be going anywhere.

^^ Before people jump on me I meant Panarin specifically. Rangers have a good combo of grit and skill.

He wouldn't have had a blast like rounds 1 and 2 if he faced our style this year, especially games 5-7. We punished the boards and crease in the d-zone. He would have been forced to dig deep and find a new gear if he wanted to go point per game (or hope we took dumb penalties and shred up our 5% PK lol)

Leafs Bruins and Panthers will continue this trend into next season I imagine, especially with Tre as our GM.

Leafs Bruins and Panthers steamroll the league in hits from February and onwards and all have high skilled guys up front (Bruins on the verge of death though because marchand is too old).

These will be the 3 most feared teams to meet in the playoffs (I am assume we will build on some flaws in off seasson) but unfortunately NHL sucks and these 3 will have to kill each other first before facing anyone else
