Thinking about Dallas, they are an interestingly built team. They got a pretty old vet contingent still being counted on in key roles. They got a lot of first and second year talented youth and they have a few really good players in their prime years.

While early I'm wondering if last year may have been their sweet spot in terms of having a balanced roster.

They may need a couple of years for those young guys to become real key players while the older ones continue to age out.

I didn't even notice Wyatt Johnston yesterday, and he was matched up against Namestnikov, as Lowry took Hintz/Robertson, and Scheifele's line got Duchene for most of the matchups. The Jets definitely won the 4th line matchup. Stars came back from a road trip to Finland, I am not sure they have adjusted yet, and the Jets know they are going out on the road for an extended period. I think they came out hungrier. Maybe caught a break when Marchment got the puck in the face on the 1st PP, causing a delay, as it may have been a different game with the Stars in front. Though the PK was generally pretty good yesterday.

Sportsnet Central, on the other hand, starts off with Oilers vs Canucks, then the Leafs game, then oh maybe lets mention the Jets making some new records.

TSN Sportscenter was practically gushing over the Jets and Bombers, the one I watched this morning anyways
Rogers doesn't give two shits about the Jets. They have stakes in 4 teams and the Jets aren't one of them. That's what media really is, market your products. Bell has some investment in Winnipeg, so that's not a surprise, and they have to promote the CFL, it's their product. But they still have to acknowledge that there are more hockey fans between Toronto and Montreal than there is in the entirety of Western Canada.

Yeah I realize that, i actually made a similar reply as yours the other day to someone about what the respective priorities of TSN and SN are for business reasons. But I felt like being snarky towards Sportsnet today lol.

I did enjoy Guffman’s posts.
Wondering if they still post , maybe under a different name?
Yes, you do wonder what happened to some posters ? and like you say, maybe they post under another name. Guffman is one, Kanadalainen, and Ducky10 are others who posted a lot, and I don't see them anymore. I have a strong feeling they post under different names, to avoid conflict with others on here ???

I do enjoy everybody's posts, even if I don't agree with them. I have also noticed more harmony on these Boards, and a lot less infighting between posters, as they respect each others opinions, which I think is great.

I totally agree with this and get it.
But other non-Rogers Media teams got front page story links.
One little teaser heading linking to a story isn't taking away from their love fest for their own teams.
Breaking that record (ANY TEAM) should have gotten noticed.

Yeah, they are still an excellent team and will easily make it as a seeded playoff team imo. I just feel they were a little better constructed last year.
The defense stood out to me. They replaced Tanev and Suter with Dumba and Lybushkin.

And the success they had with a top 4 of Harley-Heiskanen, Lindell-Tanev isn't as achievable with the RD they have now, imo.

I agree with you that they may be a vet heavy team, that doesn't have the legs they did, and if the young guys aren't gunning they might be a more mediocre team this year. Jim Nill still has time to make moves.

well it was at 2ayem...must have needed a space filler
They do a live broadcast at the end of the evening, then repeat it several times over the night. I always grab one of the repeats then so it doesn’t collide with Colbert or Penguin or the late news.

Between him and @AlphaLackey there's a missing element this season.

It's funny that no one mentions Iafallo after this game.

Scores first goal, then drives the puck to the net for the 2nd goal.

For $4 million, the same as Matty P made on the 4th line, Jets have a guy contributing to 4th line zone possession, PP, PK. Quietly having a good season, as a potential 30 point 4th liner.

No complaints with Iafallo he is having a good season but $4 million on 4th line I think the Jets can't afford to re-sign him.

No way those 2 could disguise themselves behind another user name. One would parody Shakespeare like a literary Wierd Al and the other would be explaining how to win at gambling with the math to prove it.
