It's a fair point as I've never really looked into whether centres make more on average than wingers. In any event, EP is going to get a lot of money, and Vancouver won't have much choice but to pay him.
The top ten list is weighted ever so slightly in favour of centres IIRC. I think Pettersson having RFA time left is what will ultimately factor in keeping his deal/AAV below Pastrnak's though.

Why though? He can hold out for his numbers or ask to be traded. As he doesn't need to play since he has no contract.

If he is asking below Pastra's numbers, he would have signed a contract already. Words is that he is holding up the Nucks' plan to resign their own UFA and RFA bc they don't know EP's numbers or is he willing to sign or not.
Make no mistake, Nucks can't lose someone like EP unless they win the Cup with EP injured the whole time. Bc what EP is doing with them is what I wish our top three guys can do. Not just lead the team but also play with 3rd liner to make them look like top 6. Soup and Lafferty are both playing well with EP. Can we see any of our guys having a great season and making Soup and Lafferty both on pace for 20 goals and 40 pts without PP1 time?

Might be a good day to cut out of work early.

Lots of 1pm games leading into the Bills game at 4:30.
I'm curious to see how traffic is between 4 and 5 today when I have to race around to pick up kids from school and drop them off at their various sports. I think there will be a lot of people watching the Bills game.

There tends to be a slightly greater abundance of centers within the top players because the best kids are often put there through their development, but compensation for centers and wingers relative to pretty much any method of evaluation is pretty consistent.

Though you're right that his signing status being RFA is something that has historically helped lower the cost a bit.

Going to be very interesting to see if Reinhart can continue this all year.

1 back of Matthews now for league lead in goals.

What's his pricetag if he hits 50 goals as a C?

Does the Florida board have a "how do we get Maurice fired" thread after now losing two games in a row (including against a terrible Anaheim team)?
That would be dumb if they had that.

They lost one game, after winning nine in a row, and playing their best hockey of the year.

We have won 4 games in regulation, and one game in OT, in the last 13, and played our worst hockey of the year. Outside of the Kings win, the other four wins were against teams that are last, third last, and fifth last in the league. We've only won, against the worst teams in the league.

And somehow you can't see the difference? Really?

Clearly I was kidding. But Florida had a pretty unsustainable run going, so I expect they will revert back to a more normal record.

Reminder this is the poster that posted:
First in the Division by Jan 1 (But he didn't say what year)

Canucks are starting to run away in their division.

Even after losing to Columbus today.

Ducks beating Florida too.

Kings look to end their losin streak.

Big day for the Pacific

Man the Leafs better get their shit together because they are heading out west and all those teams are either absolute wagons or wheelbarrows. Edmonton , Winnipeg and Vancouver are absolutely legit and Seattle has been on fire. Throw in a decent Calgary squad and this is looking like the toughest stretch of the season through the north west. Who would have thought.

Who could have seen that turnaround after they fired Gabby and traded Horvat. Both Vancouver and Winnipeg have a true #1G which could have something to do with it.

Yes, he could do a 1 year 8.8mm contract.

I'm curious, has anyone at that level ever taken the qualifying offer and risked the big score?

Good question, genuinely not sure.

An alternative (I believe).though is he could opt for arbitration and his agent would likely be able to secure a higher caphit than 8.8 based on his stats

Leafs and Boston have a much tougher schedule the rest of the way than Florida does.

Leafs now 11 back of the Bruins.

I don't see them catching Boston with Keefe behind the bench.
It will depend on the games in hand. If the Leafs win their games in hand, they will catch both of those teams. If they don't, they won't.

Wasn't that Tkachuk's threat last offseason?
I think that's right.
