Somewhere
Boston's first 18 games: 14-1-3
Boston's last 22 games: 10-7-5
Overachieved early in the season, just regressing more towards their talent level now. I still think they'll finish comfortably in a playoff spot.

Florida is probably gonna win the Atlantic, but I think the Leafs have a shot too.

Leafs are going to have to continue building a big winning streak, tough ask given our next two opponents. In Long Island, a place that always gives us fits, and against a great Colorado team. Would love to take both but if we can at least get one of those games that'd be something.

San Jose lost 11 in a row to start the season.

Now in the midst of a 12 game losing streak.

How the hell did they go 9-7-3 in those 17 games in between?

Oh look. Sens continue to be a tire fire. 3-11-0 in the last 14 games

You'd figure having Ottawa demigod Alfredsson as assistant coach might light a fire under their ass. Guess not.

I'm still amazed that one of the best top 6 in the league, three elite D and a captain who's the epitome of a playoff performer can't get out of the basement.

Huh.

I had no idea Hyman forced his way out of Florida a la Gauthier, Fox, Vesey.

With no cap, I wonder what salaries would look like?

After watching Ohtani, now Kahwi getting 50+ a year.

Would hockey even be close?

MLB, NFL and NBA players know exactly what owners make off TV deals. They didn't budge and demanded a bigger share of that money.

I dont know what the NHL tv numbers are. I know they are not close to NBA and NFL.

But NHL quite frankly has always shied away from American audiences. Not playing or promoting games on Thanksgiving (we know why), or new years eve and new year's day. That's truly when America sits at home and watches TV.

If you aren't going to promote your stars and you game on TV then continue being the ignored baby in the sports family.

NBA promotes those new years eve games like crazy. Usually Lebron and some other top team are playing.

Watch now much ads Ohtani gets to get eyeballs on TV watching the Dodgers. They know how to market.

I'm surprised NHLPA just sits on their behinds not playing on major holidays and not promoting their superstars like crazy.

Instead we get stupid radio ads asking Americans if they know how long a penalty is.

Nowhere close. The money in the NHL is just not there compared to the other three leagues, all of whom have much more lucrative TV deals.

If I were to venture a guess, a team like the Rangers would offer McDavid $25 million per year. The Blackhawks would sign Bedard to a similar amount in due time. Others like Matthews, MacKinnon and Makar would push the $20 million range.
