First nhl paychecks normally are due at the end of october from what I understand. It will be interesting to see what teams have issues paying that.

What team wouldn't be interested in a guy who can shoot the puck like that, especially the Kings a team who has struggled mightily for much of it's recent history to find a player like that. The right shot finisher on the left side of a PP has been very successful if you have the guy who can do it (Ovechkin, Stamkos etc) and make no mistake, Laine has that type of shot. Imagine all those years of Kopitar lobbing one-timers to Stoll on the PP and instead it was Laine. The Kings may want Byfield or Stutzel to have that kind of luxury that Kopitar never had.

Again it comes down to cost, I would be against trading the #2 in any deal because the upside is enormous, but a combination of any of our other prospects would all be in play for this guy. I personally hope it happens.

Totally disrespectful to not have one of the Kings teams on there. The 2014 Kings were not only one of the best rosters on paper of any of these teams they also had the most difficult path, winning three Game 7's on the road, including in Chicago in the middle of their dynasty. Very disappointing that they get no acknowledgement from NHL.com writing team here.

That being said, I think the answer is the 2020 Lightning. They are right there with the 2010 Blackhawks. So I guess once a decade we will see an insanely loaded team, and then sadly we will have to see that team unload some key pieces due to cap reasons.

Yeah , completely ignoring the 2012 is just wrong too. The Blues get way too much credit for what they did, when the Kings pretty much did it first 7 years earlier , steamrolling every team , including the 1,2, and 3 seeds. The only reason the 2017 Pens are there because they repeated.

The 2012 Kings and 2013 Blackhawks are the two best Stanley Cup teams since the lockout.

I mean, depends on your criteria, but you kind of have to have one or the other on the list, 2012 OR 2014 Kings, right? 2014 Kings were a mammoth on paper, fighting through down0-3, 3 games 7s on the road, chicago in the middle of their dynasty, Kings just wouldn't die. 2012 had the opposite, the 8 seed bowling everyone. Neither is just..lotta revisionist history on these boards lately. I know 5 years is an eternity in sports but people aren't even pretending anymore.

I am actually inclined to agree. Although, I don't see any way of making the deal work without a first somewhere which would be a mistake to give up. It depends on the price, of course, but if it were possible to come away with Laine without giving up the #2OA pick, you'd have to consider it. There are too many variables here though, so I envy anyone with the decision because there really is no exact right answer. Don't forget that he's going to be looking for at least $8-9 million per year at the end of the season, possibly more...

He's a 22-year-old star 40 goal scorer who has had decent attendance and, while he slipped below superstar production last season, he's put up near PPG numbers in every other. He possesses one of the most lethal shot in the league, I'd be pretty stoked if we added him, but I wince at the cost and the timing of the addition.

I personally kind of stopped watching after Round 2. Found myself catching more basketball which was pretty shocking.

To be fair though, I've been watching less and less of non-Kings hockey for a couple of years now. I know I'm somewhat in the minority, but I feel like the product is pretty bland save for a few teams.

I've been watching a lot of basketball this season in general. Far and away the best season of basketball in years with no clear cut super team. The Clippers collapse was glorious.

"wait, the kings won a cup?"

The Kings Cup runs only get respect from people who actually look at the underlying statistics.

Also pretty ironic that they included BOTH the 2013 and 2015 Hawks and leave out the only team to actually beat those dynasty Hawks: the 2014 Kings.

It really baffles me that a team can go Cup-WCF-Cup and not even get an honorable mention lmao.

3 or 4 of those writers in the article just chose their hometown team tbh and i think the others were toronto and montreal based writers, so no surprise they didn't bring the best and brightest together in that one

NHL radio was talking to Friedman this morning and they mentioned TB having 2 studs on the left side already and thought Sergachev may want a larger role elsewhere. He is who I'd be after if I were Blake but I doubt TB makes him available. He will play the right side or they will move McDonagh.

Every team out there thinks they can just dump their aging stars or middle six guys to keep the young stars. We shall see.
