The tears from all the whining would fill up Hoover Dam.

They also could’ve drafted a pretty solid goalie with one of those traded picks. Should probably place a caution disclaimer for Kings fans to not watch this if you have a faint of heart.

As bad as that looks, you know they still would've passed on most of those guys the way they drafted back then. Luc Robitaille might still be the best pick they ever made, and he was drafted in the 9th round. [others will pass him once they retire and go to the HOF]

God we suck at drafting.
It's a longstanding team tradition.

Given how the draft played out for the Kings when they had first round draft picks in the 80s, you are 100% correct in that assessment.

Just look at their first round selections in 1981, 1984, 1985, and 1987, it's bust after bust after bust.

It really is sad. 😭

Not really surprising considering how little they spent on scouting. This carried on into the mid 2000's .

Do we have data on the money spent on scouting vs. development of players? Might be some good research there. Hell, I'd love to have the budget costs of Tampa or Toronto compared to us in that regard.

Wouldn’t mind seeing Toronto vs Edmonton in the finals just to see two toxic Canadian fanbases annihilate each other.

It’s like the Imperium steering the Tyranids straight into the Orks.
Many Toronto fans believe they're the center of the hockey universe, and many Edmonton fans, for whatever reason, act they're entitled to win something. I'd rather not encourage such chodes.

Plus, how can they cling to their "the league has a fix against Canada" conspiracy if there's a guaranteed win for Canada?

Because that's how GOOD they are, they took all the fixes we could throw at them.

Big time gut check if Toronto loses tonight. They would have to win a third game in Tampa, otherwise face their Game 7 demons once again.

From what I remember reading why certain teams are better than other, it was they paid for good scouts, guys who have found nhl players. Detroit paid top dollar to their scouts to find the gems that no one else knew about. Even DL said this, you need to have good scout, and be willing to pay for them.

I might be in the minority but I think Vegas will tough for Edmonton or LA. They want play prevent like LA. They finished 1st for reason. Lot of people sleeping on them. Seattle is just a solid hardworking team. Tough defense. No easy road to the finals.
