I know everyone would rather Kings win div and play Winnepeg, but Hella1$ is only goalie in the West that could JQ on us... just one of those be careful what you wish for posts... (also a reverse jinx)
I'm hoping the Kings win the conference, not because of who the Kings would play round 1, but because the Kings are just better at home this season. 25-9-4 home vs 18-11-6 road.

We are definitely better at home, but most of that gets thrown out the window once the playoff starts. The home-ice advantage has been shrinking for years in the playoffs, it's almost at a wash right now. I'm fairly certain home teams win about 55% of series right now, which is essentially equal given the usual gap between the top teams and the 7 & 8 seeds.

I think a lot of our record is due to the team playing well after the deadline and having a crapload of home games (10 of our last 11). I don't think they are winning so much because of home ice due to the fact that before then it was fairly equal. (17-9-2 home vs. 18-11-6 road). I'm sure it's playing some factor though, the lack of travel is a boon. Good and bad things can be taken from that.

We will definitely take every advantage we can get, for sure.

Edmonton gave up another four goals tonight. Nothing changed with the Ekholm move.

Campbell just isn't going to win them anything. Right now, they're winning bad games on the strength of their pp.

No 3 point games tonight between them and Vegas.

LA just gave up 6 to St. Louis tho.

This is true. But since the trade deadline:

Kings - 2.07 GA/60; Oilers 3.62 GA/60. The Oilers have played 2 more games, but they have allowed over double the amount of goals the Kings have.

This hasn't been smoke and mirrors, this team has been absolutely fantastic since the deadline.

Point % .900 - NHL rank 1
Shot% - rank 1 (4th in for, 1st in against)
GF% - rank 1 (2nd for, 3rd against)
High Danger CF% - rank 1 (6th in HD for, 1st in against)
Save % - rank 6

They've been dominant to say the least. We can bitch at Todd's lineup choices but he's a wizard at understanding when to move in and out of the 1-3-1. The roster composition right now really fits the systems.

Their play since the trade has been very impressive. Not exactly a murderer's row of opponents but that Colorado win sticks out as a real nice one.

We'll look like Calgary did against Edmonton last year if they play like they did on Sunday though. Have to get back to limiting chances.

from our seats in 214 it sure looked like Copley was off his angles from the beginning , very worrisome but hopefully they work on that , he wasn't close on most of those goals

It makes sense in a way. If they finish second or third, either way they play the Kings. The only way their playoff matchup changes is if they catch VGK.
Agreed, just funny hearing comments like the two hottest teams facing each other. One being the Oilers. Is what it is, just makes me laugh.

Another tough night for Quick. Got pulled after the 6th goal. When you give the oilers 3 pp, they tend to score on all of them.

He was poor, definitely the form we were seeing. I don’t enjoy seeing it to be honest but the more I see the better the trade looks. I hope he calls it quits because he’s going to struggle to find a job next season unless something changes dramatically.

Everything went against the Jets last night. Edm, Cgy, Dal, and even Nas won, while they put up a goose egg in SJ.

8th overall and 3rd in the West on Jan 1st. Might be an 05-06 Kings situation going on.

Locked in to some contracts. The theory is anyone who doesn't have to go there, won't. We know Scheiflele wants out, and Dubois, if he wanted to stuck around, would be a headache to re-sign.

Their bad penalties as well as horrible turnovers cost them 5 goals. Quick gave up a few stinkers too.

I’m glad he re-signed with the Sabres because their fans deserve it, but damn maybe it was a missed opportunity to nab a former Kings fan #1C.

Elliot Friedman reported on 32 thoughts that a top team was offered him for a 5th last offseason. That was his value. Crazy.

Didn’t know where else to put this, but does anyone remember this guy when he used to be on FSW after the Kings games?

Hate to say it, but judging from how he acted on tv, it’s not really surprising he was big into the nose sugar. Happy that he seems to have found happiness though.

Oh yeah, I remember. Didn't some fans angrily call him Van Earl Wrong?
