7th most goals saved above expected in the entire league last year.

4th best GSAE/60 in the league last year (min 41 games played)
He wasn't 7th, he was 30th at 3.58. 5th was Saros.

He had the 33rd best rate.

There are also teams in the NHL that didn't have a single goalie that played 41 games. 20ish games is more than enough of a sample size for a goalie.

Sometimes a simple change in scenery resets you.
This I agree with.

I truly believe he got too comfy here. If he was that pissed when he was traded, he had to expect to re-sign here. How can one logically believe that when playing that poorly for an extended period of time? He simply wasn't giving this team his best, that much is obvious. Whether it was mental or physical it doesn't really matter.

I can't tell if you're joking or not.

His struggles here sure as hell weren't from lack of effort.
Wait, I can’t tell if you’re joking or not. You do realize it’s pretty normal for people, everyone to drop off in effort especially when you’ve been doing something demanding for a while. Of course he wasn’t going to be trying as hard. Do you expect him to put in the same effort as ten years ago? Him being traded was a wake up call to someone who got a bit too comfortable.

Be realistic

I do think the trade may have made him more coachable. A guy does it his way and does it well for years probably not as open to suggestions. Trade gave him a new perspective and seems to have made changes.

I don't know why these numbers are so different.

Regardless. There were plenty of games last year where Quick was good. What we saw tonight in Carolina is something I saw last year.

By that logic he still wouldn't be trying as hard.

Guys get into ruts all the time and their game pops when they get a change of scenery.

He is now that he kicked to the curb. Quick was in a rut, he was in Quicksand with no desire to get out of it.

He plans on playing more next year.
That doesn’t change the fact that he was clocking in with donut crumbs on his jersey, practicing with shades on to hide the bags from his hang overs. Quick is trying now which is why he’s playing a lot better. Kings lit a fire under his wee after they canned the old coot who was coming in for his benefits.

My guess is playing goal at a high level is similar to playing golf. Just the smallest little tweak in technique or change in confidence level can make a big difference.

Grant Fuhr was so bad for the Kings and then became an all-star again. Felix Potvin was picked up off the trash heap and saved the Kings season in 2021, very nearly defeating two HOF laden teams in the playoffs.
He pronating…
When he’s not supernating…
He’s clearing too early
He’s clearing too late

His game feels like an unfolding lawn chair.

Haha. Okay.

I blame Ranford.

Your filter says 2021-2022 not 2022-2023 is that what you wanted? Kuemper shows with AVS

On a recent PDOCast where the host was interviewing Kevin Woodley of In Goal Magazine, I seem to recall Woodley saying that the private models had Quick much lower last year than the public models (i.e., public models don't capture how good the Kings have been defensively the past two years).

Yep. I listened to that as well and remember that quote.

Using the eyeball test, I thought Quick had an up and down year. But there were segments where he was very good IMO.

I thought the same thing in the playoffs as well. Some very good games, and some really bad games.

Agreed. Without looking at the numbers, my recollection is he started well, struggled for a bit in the middle of the season, then closed strong.

Implying he's better at wing, and should be a winger, is jumping to conclusions.

Small sample size. Too early in his development.

This isn't a Vilardi situation. QB has the attributes to cover more ice and be a play driver.

Not developing him at center would be the stupid thing to do.

Agreed. In the small sample size with Vilardi and Iafallo on his wings, QB looked very strong at the beginning of the season. He was also torching the AHL at C.

As long as he continues to work on his faceoffs, I don’t see why he can’t become a rangey winger/center hybrid like Jeff Carter.

You dont trade a generational quality talent in quick. But moves like this are becoming an expectation to me from a hierarchy composed of a high school dropout and a many times concussed multimillionare.
Just watch Quick run the table in the playoffs.

I hope he does, just not against us!

Want Quick to excel in another market just so people stop motherf***ing him for the HOF and so he can set some well deserved american goaltending records

feels dirty cheering on VGK to get there but hey, you reap what you sow
