Who was the brainchild in trading for and signing PLD? The GM, the Assistant GM or the Senior Adviser to the GM? All of them? Whoever it was, they didn't do their due diligence on his past. Folks here talk about firing Blake at the end of the upcoming 1st round playoff, but I think the Assistant GM, the Senior Advisor, and the guy who conjures up contracts like Cal Peterson's and PLDs, and scouts and player developers also need to go too. A clearing is what is needed, not a pruning.

Montreal just signed Florian Xhekaj (jackeye spelled backwards) to a 3 year contract. He's not going to be a pest. He's going to be a bully who will be able to back it up bigtime. He's 6'4 and 190 lbs at age 19, but will probably end up at 220 lbs. And he has NHL bloodlines. He was there for the Kings to take in the 3rd round in 2023, but they passed on him for a good guy, but an honest 5'11 good guy.

Man, poor Winn Jets for such a great season -- gonna have to face the Avs in the 1st round. I can't wait to watch that series & those games. Then we have the LA Kings....
Edmonton or Vancouver or Dallas , 4 games to go and probably won't know until the last game

I wanted hockey to succeed in Arizona, and I believe it could, but with no place to play, there's really no other option at this point.

The SLC metropolitan area only has 1.2M people. Phoenix has 4.9M.

Yeah, I feel the same in a sense, I wouldn't have really gone there in the first place, but after being there for so long and given Arizona had been such a growing market due to 'lower' cost of living over the past decade or two and the fanbase became more established I wanted it to work.

I am puzzled though that they would choose SLC as the next destination though. I know they have been testing the market, but they are going to need to lean heavily on early adoption and dedication of the fanbase given the lower population market. The Utah Jazz are in the middle of the league in attendance and I just can't see it as a glistening hopeful place for hockey to flourish. Feels like replacing one mistake with potentially another.

Can't move the Coyotes out of the west. There aren't a lot of options. It could work in Utah. We'll have to see since this is in the really early stages.

But SLC is primed for growth. They're already one of the leading cities in the tech company growth. It's an attractive business and housing market right now. They're going to feast off of the general migration out of California.

We've beat the Avs twice this year. 0-3 against the Stars this year, can never beat them. There isn't a weak team in the West playoffs, no one is going to have an easy time.
