Just watched Ross Colton on the Avs walk through the oilers defense like it was warm vanilla ice cream.

Intelligence gathering:cool:

EDM v AVS has gotten saucy. Ekholm lit up Rantanen, looks like he's not returning.. good game

Edmonton has trailed off a little bit overall but for a part of this season they were really rolling. Just looked bigger and faster than everyone else like Colorado did a couple years ago when they won the cup. All down the lineup not just McDavid and Draisaitl.
But they have defensive issues as a team and can lose their heads so we will see if they have the discipline to play the game through a whole playoff.
Vegas is a bad match up for them and it wont be easy if they lose focus with any adversity.

On top of their skill guys, they have collection of dicks that will be hard to play against in the playoffs.. perry, nurse, kane. Ekholm is a beast and strong defender. Their 3rd and 4th lines are physical and can skate for the most part. Their weakness is what you said - they lose their shit easily and of course Skinner.. 3.68gaa .883 save pct last year's playoffs.

Model third period from VGK. Cassidy looked like he was planning to go full Jack (Nicholson) Torrance on the bench after the final whistle.

Everyone says that, but they have the 4th best xGA in the league.

Goaltending failed them in the playoffs last year. I think they win the cup last year if Skinner played well.

east is so bad, somehow the penguins are back in the playoff pciture
Crosby is basically single-handedly dragging that corpse of a team into the playoffs. Its pretty impressive watching him and guys like Kopi/Pavelski still tear it up as veterans. Makes me feel like Patrice Bergeron called it quits too early, I'm sure he had some juice left.

April 7 standings

Tampa WC1 93 points 5 games remain - guaranteed playoff spot
---------------- one of these will be M3 (another could be WC2)--------------
NY Islanders (M3) 85 points 5 games remain
Pittsburgh WC2(M4) 83 points 5 games remain
Philadelphia (M5) 83 points 4 games remain
Washington (M6) 82 points 6 games remain
NJ Devils (M7) are still alive but would need lots of help, 78 points 5 games remain
------------Could be WC2---------------
Detroit (A4) 82 points 6 games remain.
Buffalo (A5) 79 points 5 games remain need lots of help

going to be a wild finish in the East.

Might be the last PO's for Crosby and Ovechkin so go them?

The city doesn't want them. They have no where to play, and now the owner doesn't want them as well.

A great situation.

But Gary says it can work...
He's gonna die on that hill for sure.

And good luck getting a Billion Dollars for The Coyotes.

Myers: Brock Faber's NHL success after three years of college hockey provides an example to follow

It brings up a common refrain we have heard from college coaches for years. If you’re ready to make the jump early and contribute to a NHL team, go.

Former Northern Michigan coach Walt Kyle used to say that if one of his players was jumping right from college to the top level of pro hockey, the coach would be happy to drive them to the airport. But if you’re leaving college early to play in the AHL or lower, you’re making the wrong decision, or at best a premature one.
