The Pacific div finish order is getting muddier not clearer last couple of days. EDM could easily surpass VAN for 1st, Kings and VGK are a toss up for 3rd.. WC1 and WC2 is also up for grabs given Nash recent slide. The only thing that looks set in stone is AVS v WPG.

Re Vancouver, Demko is due back before end of reg season according to this:

I can only assume that Jess Myers is going to get some VERY sternly-worded letters about Rob Blake's unique and innovative development system

I'm surprised it's actually setting up for a pretty interesting finish

The average Minnesotan cares far more about HS/NCAA than the NHL. It's not surprising that Faber stayed at Minnesota for 3 years whereas Knies (AZ) and Cooley (PA) only stayed there for 2 years and 1 year respectively.

Both went to the NHL right away, which is totally fine, if you are going to the NHL you should leave for sure after 2, and even after 1.

But this organization pulled a player from college after 1 year, despite being nowhere close to NHL ready (1 goal in conference play) and then tried to sign another one after 2 years, with the intention of having him play in the AHL and then traded him when he didn’t sign.

The results for each player so far are drastically different.

Yep, no dispute from me on Turcotte, thought it was a puzzling decision to say the least.

From my non-Kings fan perspective, the Kings have drafted quite well, but then screwed up development on many (tried to pigeon hole many of them into the depth grind role) and several have not grown. Makes me think AEG told Blake/Robitaille to start winning again and the pressure ramped up after a surprising 2022 playoff appearance, so shift from rebuild to speed up the retool then occurred.

I feel like I remember something similar happening at Staples back in the day (turn of the century).

Yeah, good memory! Late 2000-2001 season, vs. Colorado (I believe this was Rob Blake's first game "back"). Patrick Roy was getting murdered, so after (IIRC) goal #3, he started bitching about the sunlight in his eyes, and had the staff close the curtains (we were cracking up when David Courtney actually put the request in over the PA).

Source: me (I was there - THAT was a fun game to be at).

the meme potential is so high but i'm so lazy

could have Byfield appearing in the sky in the light

or any number of 'seeing the light' text memes

On the develpment side Turc should've stayed for sure, but injuries seem to follow him everywhere. It really sucks at every level he's gotten dinged up, espcially the concussions.

Man I feel like the guy in the meme walking down the street with his chick but instead of starring at a hot dump truck I’m starring at the rangers and Devils saying man I wonder what it’s like to root for a team like that.

Longest run on sentence ever !!!!!

You're either out in the bush or walking down Meme Street

Is it a concussion again currently, any word?

Plus he could have picked his team if he did not like where the Kings traded him.
I personally don't like the Burger King have it your way and stay in college guys.

Blake was going to be shifting gears up from the Danault trade in 1st gear regardless.

He Believes in picking his guys and getting him when the cost is reasonable.
Seen it with.
Phillipe
Fiala
Dubois

Running hot with Danault and Fiala, so far PLD need to ace the Final exams for a good grade.
I think he could elevate, or maybe I am just an eternal optimist in a Den of demons.

April 8
Las Vegas @ Vancouver

Las Vegas win and Edmonton(with 2 games in hand) stays 3 points behind Vancouver but LA falls to WC2

Vancouver win and Vancouver moves 5 points ahead of Edmonton and LA stays at P2

Both results strengthen a Edmonton vs LA matchup - lucky us

PS: NO OT please.

I thought I wanted Vancouver, then realized Vegas, then went back to Vancouver, and said f*** it, I want San Francisco to win.....
I said F it, you find out who you root for just watching the game and seeing who you hope gets the puck.. for me it was Van. In the end, the 4 teams in the Pacific are in total flux where they end up Van and Edm either 1 or 2, LAK and VGK either 3, WC1, or WC2

CHL and European Pro players can do the same thing, it's just that the talented CHLers would be insane to turn down an ELC and risk losing it all if things turn south, and European Pro players don't usually care where they play in the NHL as long as they play in the NHL. They don't want to play in the A and make 75k if they could stay home and make 6-7 figures, speak same language, enjoy same culture. Bus rides to Bakersfield and San Diego with little income aren't appealing long term.

How about we want to sign you because we think you could earn a spot on the team and play for us in the NHL playoffs, your life long dream?

Most players accept and if they don't its a red flag and as they figure out they have more options you risk losing them for nothing.

Then you are looking at the chance to get a chance to get a player like Fiala, who is the most offensively skilled player on the team.
And that's the moment you get him or another team does because his team can no longer afford him.

Quite a different scenario but unlike you wrote, some players have unique situations and ideas that can influence their decision in some cases.

I love the Fiala acquisition for Faber, especially with what we have on right D already, even with Faber's notable delayed rookie season.

Like the Vilardi trade you are trading risks for a long term asset certainty.
And that's a good move in my book.

I like the fact Nucks beat the Golden Tights after we beat them, thinking hierarchically.
No overtime is definitely what I root for!

I saw Buttons top 50 associated NHL teams prospects.

No Clarke?

That list was published February 22nd. Clarke was still with the big club at that point, so I'm guessing that made him a non-prospect by whatever arbitrary reason they established.

Button had Clarke #2 on his 2021 draft ranking and #11 on his 2022 prospect ranking. Can't seem to find a 2023 ranking, but I don't think Button suddenly downgraded Clarke.
