Another 3 assist night for Faber, all from the PP.

Sigh.

For the 1000th time Brock Faber would be on the Reign rotting in the "A" if he is still in this organization. He has to pay his dues before ever moving up the ranks. That's just how it works it seems with the Kings. LOL.

EVen if that were the case (I'm not sure it would be), it would still be better to have him in the system.

Whatever weird fantasies people still have of Faber needs to stop. If byfield gets shafted, and Clarke gets shafted then it makes zero difference if he was still in the kings system. ZERO. People need to get over Faber. If you want to talk about getting shafted then you look no further than Vilardi who broke out and got traded. Vilardi despite all the odds broke out under one of the worst possible coaches. We have no idea how Faber would have performed on the Kings. Let that dude go.

I just don’t understand this angle, it’s either not true and he would be a huge part of this team right now and in the future, or it’s true and is just further proof of how inept this management team is when it comes to player development and deployment.

Faber is a more valuable asset now and is three years younger and plays a more valuable position. I don’t know why people are expected to “Get over” trading a 21 year old first pairing defender but should focus on trading a 24 year old winger instead.

There is not a single team in the league that’s choosing Vilardi over Faber if given the choice of both.

Also, interesting angle some Kings fans choose to take with just making up “the player didn’t want to be here” , I’ve been around sports forums for a long time and I’ve never seen this angle ever used before to defend a lousy executive.

I’m sure it won’t be long before this excuse finds its way to the KOTP.

You know, it is possible to like Fiala on the Kings but also think the Kings still made a presumptuous and flawed trade to get him.

There were and are valid reasons some of us hated the trade, and we still recognize the value Fiala brings. We just didn't want it at the cost of Faber.

It's like if we traded Clarke or Byfield for Gavrikov. I can't think of one Kings fan who dislikes Gavrikov. But I think most of us would have been pissed to see one of them thrive elsewhere after getting him.

It’s nothing to do with the trade as I made clead
In the original post. The highlighted in Herbys post is what I believe. Not ONE player besides Vilardi has amounted to anything and has even been given a real shot to take the reigns. I think to expect Faber to not get f***ed up under the hands of the people who killed their own rebuild is something you guys just can’t simply ignore.

Faber is one of the most valuable players in the league at this point. A 21 year old 1RD who is top 30 in defenseman scoring and is known for his defensive prowess? He’d be leading our defensemen in scoring.

Faber’s also 11th in time on ice per game played this year. We should have traded Doughty and Kopitar when we had the chance. Easy to say in retrospect of course, but we had a 1D on our hands and a lot of folks thought so. A right side of Faber, Clarke, and Spence would be phenomenal for what we should be right now, a young team exiting the rebuild.

We should have traded Kopitar too. I liked the Danault signing, he probably should have been our veteran leader that can fall back into a 2C or 3C role. Clearing out guys like Kopitar, Quick, and Doughty would have been a clear signal that other young guys have to step in and be the guy, not defer to the veterans.

It doesn’t matter at this point, but I do think there will be a lot to reflect on when all is said and done.

The point is we'll never know thanks to management trading him so early and making a flawed trade in the rush of trying to get out of the rebuild.

Exactly. I’m just saying we can’t say that Faber would have blossomed the same way in LA as he is Minnesota where the coach actually lets him play. Like even Byfield isn’t even allowed to play center lmaooo. I’m not sad about losing Faber while even removing Fiala from the situation. This rebuild has been such a shit show and so has management. I would not expect him to be the player you see in Minnesota so I don’t think we lost anything. It’s upsetting to see players do well but it’s also a fact that he probably wouldn’t be doing anything close to what he’s doing on the Kings because he would never get that opportunity to begin with.

The Kings are hell bent on Doughty and Kopitar that it’s essentially cost them years of rebuilding on players that have been drafted in Dave Taylor’s rebuild and Lombardis rebuild. It’s insanity.

but they could be in a playoff spot tomorrow

you can't do that!

At least they didn't hire Gallant. Hopefully this shows Blake that this is part of the deal when you're a GM, sometimes the coach just has to f***ing go, like in our case. Blake's never done that before and has no frame of reference cuz he's never been a GM.
