It's almost like Bjornfot is a #6/#7 D at the NHL level. I'm glad you finally admitted that he's a bottom pairing guy. I wish him the best; not gonna be missed.
He still has NHL potential, lost for nothing after having been jerked around and getting worse the more time he's spent in the org.

Funny, when I say shit like that, everyone goes up in arms.....

No, you gatekeep people from having an opinion because they aren't a former NHL coach, scout and/or GM. But good on you for admitting it's shit.

I’ve mentioned it before but I think the real crime in this rebuild was never allowing our young players become “the guy”. With Kopitar and Doughty, you know who owns the room. Other guys didn’t get a chance to step up. It’s the Patrick Ewing effect. Team dynamics can be weird. That’s why I sometimes wonder if Byfield should be centering two young guys. Not worry about any of them deferring to each other.

Kaliyev - Byfield - Laferriere

Why not?
Iafallo-QB-Vilardi had such potential

Again, you haven't been paying attention, I never said no one can have an opinion, but be prepared to back it up, especially if it's a shit opinion....

But I guess anyone challenging you on your "opinion" offends you.....

Don't think the poster was saying now as much as back when Drew first broke in
Faber is having a far better rookie year than Doughty, though he is a few years older and Drew's mecurial start was outstanding.

Faber already has close to the same point totals with the same dominant transitional defensive game. It wouldn't be a shock if he ends up with a similiar or possibly even better career.

THAT is who they traded away.

Considering their ages, what Bedard is doing is probably more impressive than what Faber is doing.

But looking at them purely as rookies, I think Faber is more impressive not factoring in age.

Faber for ROTY.

It does, but they were looking for a sure thing at center. And taking QB off Kopitar's wing also means they'd be breaking up one of the better lines in the league.

On a side note, the current roster is missing Iafallo more than people realize.
He was what made QB work at center IMO. He was so good defensively that it allowed someone to grow in the position.

Yes, you have said "be prepared to back it up if it's a shit opinion.". When cornered with evidence to back up our opinion, you then point out how we're not in the lockerroom, scouts, GMs, or coaches. It's a great tactic once or twice to look like you're receptive to discussing an issue - but after several times, it's a pretty standard setup to how you argue with and get ignored by half the board.

Which is why I ultimately only see stuff from you when I click on "show ignored content". Hence this conversation.

And no, I don't get offended when people challenge my opinion. If you bothered to read discussions beyond just aiming towards telling everyone what they don't know, you see I get fact-checked, debated, and corrected plenty. I'm more than happy to revise or clarify my stance. As are most. I find a lot of them friends, even in disagreement, or even though I've only met a small handful of people here.

Anyway, we all say "did you watch the game/player/etc". Except you. It's either a statement of "you don't know about [hockey or some specific subject]" or, incidentally, anyone who disagrees with you has a "shit opinion". Then the evidence put forth is ignored, hand-waived, rationalized, or angrily responded to with expletive and ellipsis-laced posts.

The other point I'll bring up is, all of us with these "shit opinions". We actually have stances. What we like the org has, and what we dislike. We were cautiously optimistic at the strong start, but wanted to see how they do in the playoffs. For all the stuff said about McLellan duringbthe years, he got a lot of praise for managing the minutes.

I bring this up because these are things we care about and put ourselves out there for. Beyond mentioning specific issues in a game, you have no stances yourself. If that's how you want to enjoy hockey, cool. Go for it. But until you start putting yourself out there with your own takes, large-scale changes or directions you want to see, I'd pause before jumping on other people for having "shit opinions."

People like Sol, bland, RJ, Johnny Utah, Herby, johnjm, Chazz, lumbergh, etc are all very passionate about their stances (I know there are plenty others, but we're usually among the most vocal with specific topics while branching out to others). They will discuss them at length. But that's because they come from various consistent perspectives. Even though I dump on JU's stance of needing enforcers and toughness to a certain degree, there's still merit and knowledge behind that passion where I will never outright dismiss it as shit.

Your passion is telling the people here that they're ignorant, and that they don't know as much as the members of the Kings org. Sadly, you're not the only one. But that's why I, in particular, call out this gatekeeping behavior.

Spend some time carefully investigating, crafting, understanding, then expressing something about Kings hockey that you're passionate about beyond watching the game itself. Then watch us call it shit. You'll quickly see why the behavior is pretty detestable.

And with those who don't want to dig in the weeds, or aren't comfortable expressing it - they're awesome. They still engage, discuss, disagree, and keep the forum fun and interesting without trying to dissuade the more vocal from sharing their interests and perspectives.

Just in case you need help understanding why you get more pushback, that's why.

Faber for ROTY.
Bedard is a phenomenal rookie doing an awful lot of terrific stuff. If he doesn't lose too much ground due to injury he should be a shoe-in for the Calder.

But... Faber's game is at a much higher degree of difficulty. Its not "easy" to dominate offensively, but its an easier game to play for a kid. Faber's reads and positioning is something that guys who play a decade in the league have trouble duplicating. The game away from the puck appears on slow motion to him, he has the ability to process what's happening and anticipate instead of react - its next level stuff. His play with the puck is what is so surprising. It would have been perfectly acceptable for him just to keep it simple and just deal with the play in front of him, but its those long, clean, weighted break outs that weren't expected from his so early.

I played defense in all of my humble experience, and I think that way when watching the game. Faber is far and away the best defensive prospect I have seen since Doughty. There are others with better or flashier specific aspects to their game, but if I want to win, Faber is the guy.

Solid response, seriously, I don't really look back at how it's taken, I say what I am thinking and that's it. I have stances, they aren't just set in stone, like some. This might come as disorganized but I am responding as I am reading, I don't tell people they don't know as much as the Kings organization, I am saying, we don't have ALL the information, so I am wondering how you can have a 100% stance on something like sitting Kaliyev for 1,2, maybe 3 if he sits tonight, games, how can you have 100% stance on that as player mismanagement, when we simply don't know? If I don't know all the facts, I generally am not going to set a 100% stance on it.

As far as evidence put forth, I haven't seen any, I keep seeing this, we mismanage assets and we lose all these great prospects, to waivers, yet no one can say who we've lost, Bjornfoot? Clague? Who? No one can answer that.

I see people having to ignore the start of the season so they can bitch about the slump we are in and use that slump as a "I knew it all along" statement, sorry, that's a shit take, why wouldn't you call someone out on it?

I'm not trying to silence anyone, I thoroughly enjoyed your post. I try and comment on GDTs when I am live to the action, most of the time I have to PVR and watch later, so you only see me do fly bys there normally.

I figure I get more pushback, because I simply don't care about being pushed back on, if I disagree with something, I will say it, and say why. There was a post about how we can't beat any playoff teams, despite being 10-10 against playoff teams as of the time of that post, that poster can't stand being pushed back on....but if you are wrong, you are wrong.

Also, I read discussions, I just don't really remember them, most of the time, lately, it's been people crying over a losing streak, not realizing the Kings have been playing better as of late, though still losing, and when that's pointed out, you have the same whiners saying, moral victories.... So when I call this board bi-polar, it's because it's bi-polar, it's absolutely insane to watch self called "fans" cheer for the team to lose, but also cheer, when their teams score goals....someone earlier mentioned well that's because they follow players, yea, as if the players want to lose? Or it's a longer term goal of firing TM, and Blake, thinking the next guy HAS to be better, though history has shown, that's RARELY the case, it's extremely rare to go from a Dave Taylor to a Dean Lombardi....in one shot.

Anyways, enjoy the game tonight, just don't put up with shit takes on it.....

Thank you - in all seriousness, I like GBH and I get it. I know I cross the line with my responses. And after getting called on how he crossed a line, he does dial it back. I know he cares. I just don't think he realizes why the behavior is so bothersome.

But I also know I've said many times how much people should have a stance, and I don't want people who are less vocal about their feelings to feel like they're called out or unwelcome.

I appreciate your response and I'm sorry if I came out with guns blazing - like I said above. I know you care. I agreed with you a lot back when we posted on LGK a lot. I want to unignore you to have more regular conversations, but I ultimately need to block you because it gets heated too frequently and I am worried about myself crossing a line.

I do think your post above still undermines and dismisses the legitimate feelings and frustrations people have, even if I don't agree with them completely. By saying people are ignoring the start of the season so they can "bitch" or "cry" is just a continuation of what I was saying is pissing people off. I'm not sure if you don't realize it or don't care, but if you want to ask "I say this and everyone loses their shit..." this is why.

And FWIW, I don't cheer for the Kings to lose. Can't imagine a scenario where I ever will. But instead of questioning someone's fandom, I have to ask myself "gosh, this person's been cheering on the Kings for years. It's sad that a fan has been driven to this point where they feel the best recourse for the team is for them to lose."

When someone says "We can't beat the playoff teams," they don't mean the Kings are literally incapable of beating playoff teams. It means the Kings' level of play against playoff teams doesn't instill confidence in their ability to beat playoff teams. Especially since the biggest issue the past few years has been the Kings' inability to get out of the first round - of course that's a concern. But for various reasons, people understandably don't want to drone on like I do to say it like that.

We're all Kings fans here. Casuals don't spend hours talking emphatically about the Kings with other Kings fans on a Kings message board.

I look forward to a time when you can engage us more without everyone getting pissed off. I know you have plenty to add. I'm just not confident right now in your willingness to state your points without diminishing the people you are responding to.

Will respond to this sometime tomorrow, if I remember, but will say this, you say to yourself, golly gee, this is sad that a fan has been driven....etc, I don't see a fan there at all....maybe a new fan I guess?? One who didn't live through the teams of the 80's, years 94 - 2010, but got all excited in 2012 etc....if your team losing causes you to cheer for them to lose, I dunno, man, it's either you have very unrealistic idea of what sports is, or...something else that I probably am blanking on,

No, he literally meant, we haven't beaten playoff teams, just like he literally meant and was wrong, when they said Kings won 3 of 13, and half a dozen other times he brings up stats and are dead wrong....

Omg don’t joke about that, I can see Bozo Blake doing that. Last thing we need is a second PLD

Meh, I don't think you can comprehend how BRUTAL winter in Ottawa is after playing for the past 5 years in AZ, etc, even his minor hockey was in the GTA, which is much more, mellower, than Ottawa in winter.....I can't blame him for wanting to get the F out of dodge based on weather alone....
