I thought that was in reference to Hickey, not Clague.
That would make more sense.

Lombardi flat out let a 4OA leave for nothing which is worse than Clague, Fagemo, Bjornfot etc...but he did so coming off a Stanley Cup. He could have boned our mothers in front of us at that specific point in time and we would have forgiven him.

It is crazy that Hickey never even got into an NHL game for the Kings. I went to a T-Birds game in 2008 and bought a Hickey t-shirt. What a dork.

Sorry that wasn't at you, it was at the start of the conversation.

My point was simply the ongoing wasting of assets, of which Bjornfot is just one example.

The problem is people ask those questions over and over separately instead of comprehensively--well who have we lost to waivers? well, who did we even trade? etc--which, when you look at the big picture, the point is we keep depreciating assets, getting pennies on the dollar for them, and then watch them go on to do bigger things on teams that are at least competitive if not stronger than we are. In short, Rob Blake is creating a killer farm team for true contenders.
The trade part does hurt when you see the success that Faber (huge fan) and Vilardi are having.

I just hope Fiala fixes the brain farts and PLD comes alive or the trades could both look real bad. I am 80% a Todd fan , 60% a Blake fan and 10% a Luc fan.

I would really like to see what happens to some of our players if we get a new coach that isn’t so lazy fair behind the bench . It seems that our team needs a spark or a kick in the ass.

As for Blake, I think he’s done a lot of good moves, actually drafted a lot of good players, and made some good trades. I don’t know how much interference is coming from above, I wonder why a team brings a guy like Bergeron in to assist. It just in my mind feels that Luc needs to medal in things.

I can see arguments being made each way. After watching the last month of hockey, at some point, the players have be responsible, make Smart plays, good passes, and not sit idle with the puck on the stick.

Unfortunately, the players that are doing it are our so called stars. If this coach can’t get them to snap out of it, it’s time for a new one.

You are right, my bad. I really hated that pick. I stayed home for my family, holding to watch the draft, and it just threw all my notes up in the air and walked out of the house after that pick.

Me too, but no denying Anaheim would be an easier market to play in

I was shocked that he fell all the way to Vegas for waivers. Given that, i actually doubt he could get much. Which is equally shocking to me.

Which is probably why there was no market for him. If he fell out of favor so much, they had to try and move him, which I'm sure they did. No takers, so now what? They gave him a shot in camp to prove himself one more time, which didn't and he eventually got waived. It happens all the time. If they got a 6th or 7th , nobody would be happy either. This isn't a bad asset management thing if you try and trade a guy and there's no takers. That should tell you how much other teams viewed his skill level.

They fell out of favor of him before the summer of 2022. They had plenty of time to trade him. Waiting until this season to try to trade him, assuming they did, was a mistake.

I'd like to know what happened after his 70 game season. Was it just a waiver thing, Kings wanted more size and experience at LD, or something else. He had the worst +/- on the team , ever Durzi wasn't that bad. But with Sean, you could count on his offense to make up for his rookie mistakes.

When will this die? Probably never.

The hurricanes tried to sign Johnson away from UofM in the middle of the ncaa season after Johnson told them he was going to stay at Michigan for the year. Carolina were massive :eek::eek::eek::eek: on this one.
Think they had wanted to sign him upon drafting him. They didn’t want him to go to school at all. I believe Rutherford even said something right on the stage about it, if I remember things correctly. While he’s wearing a maize and blue tie.

that was Hickey I think
Yes, I had a brain fart there. Maybe with Byfield taking that next step, Spence playing everyday and some of our younger guys like maybe a certain young goalie looking good, you can get Yank on with a few more stories.
