I've never really heard of Tanner Jeannot, and was shocked at what they gave up. Cal Foote, a 1st,2nd,3rd, 4th. The guy has 14 points. Somewhere ARZ is saying , "see what they got..."
He's a good player, hits a ton and fights a lot. He had 24 goals last year, but on an unsustainable 19.4 shooting percentage. His numbers are WAY down this season, and he's now shooting below what his likely career average will be. He's a 15 goal, 35 point kind of guy who's an ideal 3rd liner because of what else he brings (hitting and fighting).

Don't get me wrong, I'd love if he was a King, but the price Tampa payed is flat-out ridiculous. Paying what amounts to almost a full draft class worth of picks (even if it's spread over three drafts) for a 3rd liner is about as peak "we don't give a shit, we are ALL in" as it gets

TB won back to back, been to 3 straight Finals, with as good a chance as anyone to make it 4 in a row this year. This current TB run is what every franchise dreams of. Why care one ounce about the future if you've got this present? What are the odds TB is going to have this kind of mix again any time soon? It's going to end at some point, and when it does, they'll likely hurt for a while, but today is today.

It's the same with DL and Lucic. 2 Cup wins in 4 years, with one year left of Kopitar at a good cap hit. If DL doesn't do everything he could to try and win in 15-16, it would've been a disservice.

See this is totally wrong....TB should be trading Hedman, Kucherov, Stamkos, Vasilesky.....for the good of the franchise.....

Sounds like william Karlson type guy, started strong then each season trailed off. . And yeah, holy overpayment batman. As much as I hate Tampa, you have envy [ except for their cap work arounds] what they've been able to do after their cup wins. Wish Dean was much smarter after 2014.

And Brisebois said as much, on top of being their absolute window and the guy they wanted, they ALSO had to convince Nashville as he wasn't really for sale.

This writer is good, lot of good quotes there too, re: philosophy especially. Fun read for trade/draft nerds like us.

Tampa doesn't need his production as much as they want his moxie

If they get the original production out of him, though, theyr'e a SURE favorite...and there's a good chance of a slight return to form on a skilled team like TBL where they just have him truck to the net. I love this move for them. They ID'ed their guy and are all in.

Might as well just trade off those last three picks and not show up for the draft.

Colorado only had a 6th and 7th last year, I was really hoping their table would just be pounding beers the entire time.

I went to the draft in 2015 and sat near the St. Louis table hoping to get an autograph from Martin Brodeur. They didn't have a first rounder from the Ryan Miller trade. At some point I looked over and their table was staring blankly into space and not talking for several minutes. Probably a 'you had to be there' moment, but they were acting like they were in detention or something.

When you've already given your semester-end presentation and you just have to wait around for everyone else.

McCabe to Leafs.
Per TSN:
The Toronto Maple Leafs have acquired defenceman Jake McCabe and forward Sam Lafferty in exchange for a conditional 2025 first-rounder, a 2026 second-round pick and forwards Joey Anderson and Pavel Gogolev.

The Leafs are also getting a conditional fifth-rounder in 2024 and a conditional fifth in 2025 from the Blackhawks in the deal.

All these trades going east and only 1 of those teams will make the finals from there. Some moves look like desperation, others are f*ck it, we're going all in and see.

When these new toys become expensive, we better have the cap space to prey on these teams.
