I'll give the refs this one, it's the right play. Lightning players immediately backed off and no one was near the net, so the Habs are supposed to keep the play alive as they did
With how long the goalie was hanging onto the puck, the refs usually yell at the players to keep playing, which would have alerted the Lightning.

He had it out within 2 seconds (give or take tenths of a second) which wouldn't be that long without a whistle even if he was surrounded by Lightning players. Ref probably should've said something as you said, but the Lightning players should've also known it was likely to play on with no one near the net

I think holding onto the puck for two seconds is a long time, with or without Lightning players surrounding him, which is why I expected the ref to say something.

Posted this on the main board thread. Normally in that situation you would hear the ref shouting "move it, move it" which would have kept the Lightning players invested. I watched that clip several times and don't hear that at all.

It depends on the ref usually, there are some that are more vocal, some that aren't, it's up on the Lightning players to keep attacking, they didn't, ref waited, you can see his whistle was ready to go, they turned their back, Montreal kept playing....shit way to give up a goal for sure, but Lightning has no one but themselves to be pissed at

Same, never seen it so quiet re: ref communication, but it's also unusual that literally no TBL players even glanced that way, and it's really wholly on them regardless, though I'd want better communication from stripes too.

Even Seattle shuts out Vegas, who’s only win in their last 6 is against us.

The 600 million dollar expansion bowl [thanks to Gary] wasn't very good. How many times did they run that Beniers outdoor skating piece? Also, the place was so quiet . Probably the low point in outdoor games, no matter how pretty they made it. Vegas getting shut out in the big game was the only highlight.

There is no reason that would have been blown dead, Tampa retreated, it's ONLY blown dead if they keep attacking, they didn't.

For sure tampa should have but the goalie held it for long enough someone could argue the play should have been blown dead with a delay of game for not playing it to Montreal.
