van has banked a lot of points so even if they slip they'll still be around.

We don't match up well against either team though, go figure.

I think if Calgary could have waited till the deadline then yes they would have gotten more. But they way his trade request went down ruffled feathers in the room. So needed to move on.

I agree with you that those are the three best teams. I don't see Edmonton catching Vancouver for how the teams will finish in the standings. I think Edmonton has a good chance to be a wildcard team. If LA wins the division that would be a shit prize, but LA needs to be able to get over Edmonton if they want to have any success anyway.
I think the Canucks will crater while Edmonton maintains its trajectory. I think Edmonton will overtake Canucks despite their point gap right now. The Canucks were playing way over their heads and the Oilers were drastically under performing.

I hope we get the Oilers again. Win win. Either we beat them and get revenge; or we lose a 3rd straight time and (should) get changes (coach or GM or both).
Heart wants oilers for revenge, brain says Canucks. I don’t think our goaltending can withstand McDavid. Korpisalo held the ship together in 2 games and then got figured out. If Korpisalo gets figured out i don’t want to see what McDavid and that lazy oaf Draisaitl will do on the PP against Talbot/Copley.

I could see that, i could also see Vancouver keeping the 3rd spot. Especially once they get healthy again. They started sliding once D injuries started to pile up. It's not just the start of this year, Vancouver looked pretty good end of last season too.

Yeah but you have to consider there ungodly lucky start. Their puck luck and conversion was crazy. Plus they don’t have a McDavid. I think McDavid alone can catapult the Oilers ahead of the Canucks. The Oilers are simply a better team and Canucks were playing over their heads. They don’t have an intimidating roster to me. All it takes is for some law of averages and an injury. McDavid is super durable. That man when he’s on is scary. The Canucks don’t have anything like that.

I agree oilers are the better team, but that lucky start has bagged alot of points for Vancouver. It's a large hill even for McJesus.
Vancouver's forward depth, i think is better than Edmonton's. Not by much, and as good as EP is, he is no McDavid (no one is)

Not a "lucky" start, Van had one of the easier schedules to start the season, just like LA had one of the toughest. LA doing as good as they have early portends a very good season. Vancouver is going to regress a bit ( unless they can keep up a 24% shooting rate - then just might as give them the cup now). The Season will balance itself out at the end of the year.
1) LA
2) Vegas
3) Van
4) Edmonton
so LA vs Edmonton round 3 with LA having Home Ice when they really are road warriors , yuch.

Funny how when Vancouver doesn't play a mid/bad teams, they no longer can run up the score and pad their stats. They were outmatched last night vs Vegas, with one goal in particular looking like an absolute tire fire on defensive .

It’s not a large hill imo. Vancouver can easily go on a big losing streak and Edmonton can go on a big one.

Poor Gabe, such the victim, I'm sure he'll complain he was just keeping McDavid at stick's length so Connor didn't break his back with a slash, can't wait to see his salty postgame now.

Just to be clear I had to be one of his biggest cheerleaders from the draft until now but after watching him whine and motherf*** LA repeatedly in the media I'm definitely rooting for all the dumb things to keep happening to him on the ice.
Personally, I think he has a legitimate gripe against Lizotte. He's a dirty little f***. I love what he brings to our 4th line most nights but he plays a very borderline game.

However, my feeling is that when it's all said and done we're going to be happy Lizotte is wearing a Kings jersey and not Gabe.

Sure, but if all players bitched to the media about every such play it would be nonstop sewage

The guy has been pissing all over LA since the moment he left, guy needs to go see Tony Robbins or something

I would be pissing on LA too if I finally had a breakout year and they shipped me off because the GM can’t manage the cap.

Vilardi has persevered through some insane injuries and setbacks in his short career. He has my full respect.

I'm pretty sure I was his #1 cheerleader the whole time too, and was soundly against the trade, I don't mind him motherf***ing the org over that, but everything has been sour grapes about the city fans and players so he can f*** right off, he's just another opponent now, he earned my respect thru his perseverance and he lost it by yapping about us like a jilted ex girlfriend, this drama queen can get bent

What has he said about the city and fans?

There was an article that I read where he basically said that he was happy to be someplace that a lot of people who were hockey fans, and that LA wasn't a hockey city. He isn't wrong about the LA area not being a hockey-centric area, but I can see how making comments about the fan base not loving hockey enough would rub Kings fans the wrong way.

Truth be told, the Kings are the only true LA team. The Dodgers came from Brooklyn, the Lakers came from Minnesota, the Clippers came from Buffalo, the Rams came from Cleveland (and then moved to St. Louis), and the Chargers spent their inaugural season in LA, then moved to SD for 60+ years before coming back. The Kings are the only professional franchise that started and remained in LA for the entirety of their existence.

And as far as LA fans go, the Kings probably have the most loyal fan base. We might be smaller than the other fan bases, but Staples center is almost always sold out, and the fans aren't wishy-washy. We tend to stick with the team through the good years and the bad years (despite all of our pissing and moaning). It seems like you see a lot of Lakers, Rams, and Dodger fans during the good years, but once the bad years come, they tend to disappear.

I personally quite enjoy diva-lardi. I cannot think of anything more boring than boilerplate player interviews "obviously it's an unfortunate play obviously and we're obviously focused on two points here, obviously a team win would be good" YAWWNNNN gimme some sass

He wasn't traded because of the cap, he was traded because the Kings needed a center.

I think the Vilardi hate is unwarranted. Lizotte was completely out of control and took out Vilardi's legs. There was no reason for Lizotte to do that, and anyone suggesting that this injury was because Vilardi is injury prone is just out to lunch. That's not even really unusual for Lizotte, he's a very wild, reckless player. He's so small that he doesn't typically get a ton of attention, but he gets a way with a lot of stuff that bigger players wouldn't get away with.

Similarly, if you're Vilardi, you've just had a breakout year and get shipped off to Winnipeg. Wouldn't you be pretty pissed? It's not like the media here was especially kind to him either (shockingly, I can't remember any player getting negative press, we're almost embarrassingly too nice to our players). There were rumors of him not fitting in with the room, not getting a contract before last year, etc. I don't know the ins and outs of course, but have we ever seen that before, especially for a prospect?

I've obviously been a Vilardi fan for a long time, and I hope he continues to do well. No hate from me.

agree with you about Lizotte, but disagree on the above. Don’t recall anything negative about him in the press…the only negativity I recall was coming from the usual posters on this board, mostly predicting that Vilardi would never play a game in the NHL….another Blake bust.

There's this quote.. i dont think its bad at all myself. but maybe this is what some are referring to

Sounds like a Kopi interview. If you did a shot for every time he says obviously in an interview you'd wake up in the ER
