And just took a bad penalty that resulted in the potential GWG for EDM.
He f***ed up bad there ooof... that was a brutal ending for wpg they had them locked down and hellabuck let in a softy on nurse... vilardi held 97 stick.. not good

Poor Gabe, such the victim, I'm sure he'll complain he was just keeping McDavid at stick's length so Connor didn't break his back with a slash, can't wait to see his salty postgame now.

Just to be clear I had to be one of his biggest cheerleaders from the draft until now but after watching him whine and motherf*** LA repeatedly in the media I'm definitely rooting for all the dumb things to keep happening to him on the ice.

On a side note, anyone else notice just how much more chippy games have gotten this year? It’s like daily I see videos on my feed of scrums and fights. And it’s the whole line going at it one another.

oh for sure
Gotta be more that we aren't privy too.....and I'm good with that, I really don't need to know the particulars

Big Z would’ve been a great add. I’m a fan of the guy. But Englund has been surprisingly solid so far this season.
Big Z is Chara. Zadorov is a turnover machine, his is big and can be physical so I get the appeal but would rather have Englund.

Man wish they would have took Roy and a 3rd in 2025 Gavrikov and Zadorov would have been straight up nasty!
I do not want Zadorov on the second pair. Roy is a million times better than Zadorov.

I don't either as long as he does something to Lizotte the next time they play. Of course, that might mean simply throwing one body check since he has zero in three games this season and 66 in 155 career regular season games.

Love Vilardi's skill and always have. Some guys seem like complete dorks or weirdos on the Kingsvision stuff during TV timeouts and he took the cake last season. Airing this in the media and then saying it is between the two of them totally tracks based on what I've seen from him...kind of an awkward dude.
I'm cheering for a Vilardi-Lizotte fight the next time we see the Jets. Vilardi should just drop the gloves as soon as they're close together and go for it. Instigator be damned.

Can’t believe Calgary sold Zadorov for a song to f***ing Vancouver.

Little bit surprising he didn't fetch more, but I think that was a factor in their owner not wanting to retain salary. Only a handful of teams could have added Zadorov without retention or sending a similar deal back. Zadorov had somewhere in the neighborhood of 2.8 million in salary remaining for the season, so I could understand the rationale that eating 1.4 million wasn't worth the difference between a 3rd round pick becoming a 2nd round pick.

It's tough to make a deal in December vs making one closer to the deadline. Taking Zadorov now would have taken up a lot of teams' remaining cap space. A few Devils fans were talking up Zadorov as a solution, but they didn't seem to understand taking him now meant that there'd be no cap space (barring injury) for a bigger fish at the deadline. They were reacting like a neighbor kid got a new toy and they want a new toy.

As for Calgary, I can only assume the urgency on the deal was Zadorov's trade request a few weeks back. Maybe they have enough runway to salvage this season and they were trying to remove any distractions.

A lot of local fans here are pissed at the return. Not sure why the expectation was so high for a 3rd pairing d man, who turns over the puck constantly and asked for a trade though?

If one of these picks hit they won't be a flame till like 2030, so i get that. but now Calgary has cap space, more picks that can eb sued for future deals, and if they fall out of bubble they can retain on another deal to help faciliate a trade. This gives them flexibility while removing a guy who called out his team mates and then asked for a trade publicly.

Not every former player is going to make a great GM and great trades.

Look at some of the contracts Bill Guerin has given out recently - wow.

The Foligno one is the only one kinda sticking out to me. Maybe Freddy Gaudreau too, but I'd think the length is worse than the 2.1 mil AAV. Matt Boldy's shooting percentage is low this season and is a safe bet to rebound.

I suppose expectations got a bit high with guys like Ben Chiarot and David Savard fetching late 1sts as deadline rentals. Or a guy like Brendan Dillon (who had term remaining) getting a pair of 2nds. I pointed out to Devils fans how Marco Scandella netted a 4th rounder in a mid-season trade and then a 2nd rounder several weeks later at the deadline. The flat cap + no retention was going to dampen Zadorov's return.

At least on the main board a few fans were talking up Zadorov's 14 goals last year as a selling point rather than something fluky. I found that funny. Reminded me of the annoying guy in my fantasy league trying to pitch Kevin Connauton as a late bloomer offensive defenseman after he scored 11 goals one season; He scored 2 goals over his next/final 89 NHL games.

I still think the three best teams in the pacific are the Knights Kings and Oilers. The chance of playing the oilers again this year are still high. The only difference this year is the Canucks have awakened a bit but I see them fizzling out and becoming a wildcard team at best.

It was obvious the oilers weren’t going to be bad the whole season. It was a mentality issue not an ability issue. It’s going to be Kings vs Oilers like 70 percent sure about that.

On a side note, Draisaitl lazily gets a wide open net on the PP and scores a goal while the entire PK collapsed around McDavid. Draisaitl needs to pray at the shrine of McDavid for getting him paid fat stacks just since he essentially thrives exclusively in the shadow of McDavid.

What a loser. If I see another Draisaitl being an elite superstar thread I will attack. Hes PLD with a better shot. Nothing more.

I think if Calgary could have waited till the deadline then yes they would have gotten more. But they way his trade request went down ruffled feathers in the room. So needed to move on.

I agree with you that those are the three best teams. I don't see Edmonton catching Vancouver for how the teams will finish in the standings. I think Edmonton has a good chance to be a wildcard team. If LA wins the division that would be a shit prize, but LA needs to be able to get over Edmonton if they want to have any success anyway.

I totally forgot about Oliver Kylington too, looks like he joined the team for a skate today. Not sure if he might be an option in a couple weeks?

He skated but not with the team (he skated on a rink my crappy beer league team plays on)
Good sign, but long way off I would think. Remember how long it took Walker to look somewhat like his old self? Would think Kylington would have a similiar path
