No idea what you are seeing there, seems like you have an unconscious bias, he finishes his check with a leveraged slewfoot type of check? What does that even mean honestly, he's going to lift his stick, VILARDI TURNS to protect the stick/puck, and gets taken down because of that turn, so what do you want Lizotte to do, not try and get the puck? What are his options when Vilardi turns?
The puck is gone along the boards by the time he initiates the trip... which is not a necessary hit - its finishing your check type play. He was penalized for a trip.. so obviously what he did was an infraction. So what is he supposed to do? Id say he should not have used his stick to pull his legs out from under him.

i'm sorry but it's kinda day 1 shit, don't turn away from contact at the boards

i understand this is the nu-NHL but you put yourself at risk of all sorts of things when you spin away like that, even just hard stopping probably ends up as a reverse hit that puts lizotte on his ass

acting like there's intent from lizotte there is foolish to be polite

Lizotte is dirty, see his cross checking major to a Jets player face last season, that is why he led the Kings in PIMs last year. He gets away with a lot because he is tiny.

He’s taking it personal and still resents the kings for sending him to the North Pole. It’s interesting that this is coming up all now. Now if it was Fiala who did that I would understand since he does stupid shit on a daily basis but it’s Lizzotte.
Dude, the guy lost two months of his career over a stupid play -- same guy that has battled injuries since day 1. He has every right to be pissed about it, most players prob wouldn't make comments like that in the press, but you can't fault the guy for being honest.

Puck was gone? Are we talking about the same play? Puck was still there, thats why Vilardi turns....yes, it was a trip, it was again a HUSTLE play....so you think he shouldn't have used his stick to try and get the puck?

Sorry bud, I live in reality....thats a play that happens dozen times a game, Vilardi is just pissed because he's a china doll

Lizotte is a crash test dummy but I wouldn't call him dirty. Reckless? sure. but 600 other NHLers have no problem putting him on his ass, and only one is airing it out to the media like a little bitch.

And then he goes on to say "that's between me and him tho" like bro lol

He's right about it being a stupid play. Lizo has no history of cheap hits that i know of.. so that part of his statement is suspect. Does anyone remember Lizo doing anything cheap before?

He crosschecked Morrissey in the face so Jets already have a special kind of pissy at him, Gabe probably feels good airing it out in front of them

I remember when Todd once spoke out about a certain player with negative body language was bringing that negative energy to the rink, and how that hurt the team. It was pretty clear to me that the player whom Todd was talking about was Gabe Vilardi.

Funny enough, Pierre-Luc Dubois has had that same vibe in the past, but at least he’s exhibited some clutch performances in the playoffs and has produced 25+ goals and 60+ points consistently.

I used to say I really liked his fire/passion but starting to see that a bit more, all of his interviews are seething with smugness and it reminds me of...Yanetti or Futa...saying something about when the chip on a player's shoulder gets TOO big and starts getting in the way instead of being helpful.

Guy could definitely use a mindset shift. It seems kind of Getzlaf-ish, minus the stick throwing temper tantrum so far.

I can absolutely fault the guy especially since he expanded his accusation to "he does it all the time." Vilardi is being a baby.

Lizotte

If Lizzotte plays like anything less than a ground squirrel on meth; his next job is selling video games at GameStop. Love Gabe’s skill set and intensity but, your a legit top 6 er with top 3 talent. Comment less about 4th liners and stay in your lane trying to live up to the God given talent you have.

Disappointing to hear Vilardi act this way over a basic routine play that unfortunately led to an injury but was penalized appropriately.

Makes me wish we traded him for someone more useful than PLD instead of just regretting the trade altogether.

Just goes to show that there are a lot of things us fans aren't privy to. It's like none of us really like to weigh in on situations that we don't completely understand, ya know??

Whatever is going on right now is obviously working - the team has chemistry and they are all working well together. Gotta give Blake a lot of credit for that. He could be a lot more insightful to these matters than any of us know.

Im saying at the point in time of the trip Lizotte was not after the puck he was after Vilardi to dump him...He shouldnt have pulled his legs out.

He didn't pull anything out.....by your own picture A. the puck is right there, and B. Vilardi turned away to protect it

You are saying that is a dirty check, that picture there? Cmon man
Yes its dangerous/stupid... dirty if its intentional - which only Lizotte knows.

And he paid for it by being health bombed and banished to the AHL for almost a full year. By all accounts Gabe was a new man last year and it showed in the on-ice results. It's not surprising that he'd be pissy about all things Kings after he was dumped and insinuated to be greedy/looking for an unreasonable raise only for the Kings to turn around and give a guy like PLD a max contract more than twice his salary.
