Oh to be a fly on the wall in that locker room right now.

Kinda crazy we've spent all summer wondering how the Kings could beat these guys, and still might have to, but with every passing game that team is sinking further and further into obscurity. This is no Chicago "mythical dragon" situation.
Their problems are monumental this year. See the heat map above showing how the Rangers are great at minimizing high-danger chances for their goalies? Check out the one from tonight's game in Carolina:

The area smack dab in the most dangerous spot on the ice is redder than Wyoming on an election night map. Look at the complete lack of point shots by the 'Canes. They were doing whatever they wanted down low.

You could put Messier between Gretzky and McJesus and you'd still lose playing like that.

I've used the analogy before, but seeing this is like watching your mother in law drive your brand new corvette off the edge of a cliff.

Lolz, Easy Coast doesn't know you're supposed to use point shots through traffic on Quick.

4 goals in 15 minutes tonight!?

I know it's still early in the season but I'm loving every second of this.

You're the best player. Clearly this isn't your fault. If you aren't scoring 3 points a game or more, you have no chance to win. The team is to blame!

Draisaitl may not want to resign on a team that can't make the playoffs. Now you're going to have to put up 3 points a game without your buddy.

Boston has a good goalie & defense & no centers.

I wonder if Holland kicked the tires on Talbot this summer and if Cam had any interest.

Also, is the narrator suggesting that Quick could be an Oiler at the deadline? Holy f*** what a mindf*** that would be.

It’s partly your fault if you think your only responsibility is to score points. If the big two went hard every shift, blocked shots and stopped cheating offensively the whole team plays differently. They set the tone and the rest are following it.

If the "leaders" aren't buying into team defense, why should they?

The Ducks are regressing to the mean. They had a nice little run to start the season, but are still a couple years away

Meanwhile, Seattle has played 21 games, while Ottawa has only played 15, that doesn't seem right at all

That is not at all what I heard. He was just contrasting his favorite team (the Rangers) with the Oilers.

Quick is seriously going to win the Vezina.
It's a god damn shame he does not have at least one.

So, I guess we don't have to worry about beating the Oilers this year?
Bring on the Canucks!

Edmonton should sell Leon and bring back a Goalie and D.

I still think the Oilers can make the playoffs. Just like how they were unbeaten to end the season last year with like 14 games, don’t think that a team with caliber players like that needs too much. All they need is one big trade and that can be a momentum swing.

It's a steep hill, however they aren't out yet. But don't believe models like the guy used in the video above or at moneypuck (who has the Oilers as 10% higher to get in the playoffs than the Capitals, who have a much easier path to finish divisional top-3). A lot of those crunch stats to predict winners, but don't take divisional strength into account and are sugarcoating their chances. I would put their odds of making it in about 15% right now. I'm not sure a team 10 points out at Thanksgiving has ever come back to make it in. The Blues in 18-19 were a rare case of a team that roared back, but even they had 19 points at TG.

Their biggest problem is they haven't played many top teams yet and have played a good chuck of weaker ones, they have the 2nd hardest remaining schedule in the Western conference. Winning 40 out of 64 isn't going to be easy.

It's weird to see his rebound control suffering. That was one of the things he was so good at.
Really? When I think of JQ I think of his athleticism. I don’t think he was super skillful technically. Especially with rebounds and his glove seemed average to me. What made him good was even though he had a lot of rebounds he had the athleticism to make the follow up saves.

He seemed to be pretty good at redirecting the pucks to the corners rather than out front.
