The Oilers lost again

This loss is extra frustrating for Edmonton because they opened up the game with a 2-0 lead but still blew it and lost in regulation.

Now they have to play a back to back in Carolina tomorrow. And that place is really difficult to get road win in.

Reading the EDM board is like this place when we are playing .500 hockey.

Seemed like an insurance thing in case Antti Raanta got injured again and/or Pyotr Kochetkov struggled. Since Carolina is going without an AHL affiliate this season, their only other goalie under contract is rookie Yaniv Perets who's been in the ECHL.

Kochetkov is making 2 mil this season and they expected him to be the backup when they extended him twelve months ago. But he faltered in the second half of the season and they ended up bring back both Andersen/Raanta.

It might be a case where Halak wasn't a noticeable upgrade over Kochetkov and they're already paying for the latter whether or not he's playing in the NHL.

I think it was Chris Johnston on TSN Insider Trading today who mentioned the Carolina seemed willing to sign Halak to a (two way?) deal but that they wanted him to get up to speed in the AHL. Halak wasn't interested so they parted ways.

I dunno why, but the Twitter hockey drama going on right now with Tim Peel is so entertaining to me for some reason :P What a bunch of idiots, haha.
The most hilarious thing is when they go at Peel with insults. I mean, he wasn't the best ref out there, could you imagine what he heard on the ice? His skin is probably as thick as a rhino.

It was a stupid question though. I mean, trying to win 4-1 instead of 7-5 isn't going to work if you aren't a team built to 4-1. You'd think a media person would know that, but I also get that they are running out of things to ask as the wheels have completely fallen off up in Edmonton.

I think post game interviews are kind of cringe.

The players and coaches don't want to do it. And the reporters don't have any interesting questions to ask anyways, so it's usually pointless.

The Kings aren’t on the schedule tomorrow, but the other four top teams in the West are facing off tomorrow night. Vegas is in Dallas to face the Stars. That’s gonna be a good one. And the Canucks face a real test in Denver. I’ll be interested to see who comes out on top in these two games.

It was a dumb question but they are dancing around the question they want to ask.

They need to ask why McDrai still don’t play a 200 ft game. Whilst 97 has improved in that regard it’s still inconsistent and he still cheats offensively exposing them down the middle. Drai is worse and only seems to work hard on his terms mostly on the pp. I watched them live as a neutral fan in MN and saw all the same stuff 2 seasons ago.

I’ve consistently said that 97 has not realised his generational talent. He won’t do that until he learns that his points totals need to come second to winning.

Yeah. It's almost like Spector wants to flat out ask "You put up a lot of points. When will you be willing to start sacrificing that offensive ability to be a more reliable contributor defensively?"

I think the only coach that really enjoyed those things was Sutter. Everyone in the room knew he didn't take those things seriously and the unpredictability actually made them fun.

He's like the opposite of Tortorella, who would rather light his own hair on fire. Although his can be amusing as well.

i'd be onboard with the kraken one if the jets hadn't just come out with that teal and navy thing recently

vegas one is cool but vancouver kinda has the trademark on "big V" designs imo

I LOVED the Seattle one at first sight.

HATED the VGK one at first but now I really like it, they keep doing new things fearlessly and I can appreciate that even as I want them to crash and burn.

I have to wonder how the rest of the Vegas kit will look though> I LOVE that cream and old gold but pants, socks, helmet, gloves? Could be a mess. Seattle's could get away with nearly anything.

Vegas one looks like its giving me the double middle finger.

...can't un-see this now though
