I always felt Durzi could be a 50pts+ Dman, but he needed to be put in the right situation. That was never going to happen here.

On a Leafs-centric podcast I listen to, they were lamenting the fact they paid Klingberg 4M, instead of giving up a 2nd for Durzi.
Heard the same episode. AND they elected to let Erik Gustafsson walk to pay Klingberg more for a worse output.

Brad Treliving seems to have had 2 very poor summers in a row, for 2 separate teams.

Nobody talking about VAN? They won again and are now tied with VGK for first place in the Pacific and 1st in the WC. Wow...

The flow alone should get him into the HHOF.

After all this time it astounds me that people have such unrealistic trade expectations.

I wouldn't trade Clarke for any of them, one-for-one, and most of the other teams would rightfully balk, too.

What's there to talk about? They're playing really well. I think people are waiting for their stats to even out and see where they really stand. They won last night, but it was a nail biter and they didn't have a lead until they won in OT.

Lindhom extended could maybe get a few of these. I think Columbus makes sense there for Johnson or Sillinger.

The most difficult thing about getting returns on guys like that is the market is good teams looking to try and get over the top. It's hard to get cost controlled young talent back because they need them to stay under the cap going forward. So yeah you'll get a first, but it will likely be a late first (unless a team holds picks from previous trades).

Salary in = Salary out in most trades nowadays.

They are to old and to expensive. Lindholm is almost 29, Hanifin is going to be 27, Zadorov is 28. All these guys are UFA and are going to want contracts well into their 30's. Tanev is ancient for a hockey player, but would probably be someone you are looking at giving 2 years to.

The development path of players has changed dramatically since the pre-cap days. It no longer makes sense to slow-play players and d bridge contracts with high end pieces, because it means you have to give guys (assuming they hit) who are 25-27 these eight year deals that take them well past their primes.

This gets back to the "slow cook" or "barely old enough to buy a beer" nonsense, whether it's actually happening or an excuse is up for debate, but it's not an accident why the 8 year deal right out of a productive ELC is now the norm for high end players.

Cam Neely is one of the most over romanticized players of all time.

And, I'll add, the personal property of Mr. Samuelsson.

His first 5 years in Boston were great though. Everything you'd want a power winger to be. Even a 50g scorer per every 82 playoff games for his career.

Seabass certainly helped pump his public image.

Rule of thumb on trades;

A good 30 year old gets you a decent 25 year old. A really good 25 year old can get you a top 20 year old. The 28/29 year old, with or without a long term deal, isn't bringing back a legit league-wide top 19 year old prospect. Other than by accident. A 1st that isn't protected, a young guy that for some reason ends up clicking on your team, etc. How long did Buffalo get made fun of for only getting Thompson in the O'Reilly deal?

The main board has turned into a Vancouver board.
I had the Vancouver - NYI game on in the break room at work last night. Co-worker walked in (not a hockey guy at all) and said "I heard the Canucks are actually good this year?"

I told him that they were turning it around, mostly because the Sundin twins were having their first good season in about eight years.

"Oh yeah? Neat."

There's harmful misinformation and then there's whatever that was.

The Stutzle goal was amazing, I remember when Gretzky had a similar one for the Kings way back in the day. He is one of those guys that just has that special "it" to their game. You just knew right away, just like with Kopi.

Happy the people in Europe got an exciting game.

they did that red wings fan behind the bench SO dirty

can't help but laugh at reimer no matter how unfair it is, he obviously had no idea where that puck was but if he just butterflies that muffs into his chesty and everyone is let down

Yeah Stutzle and his fantastic baseball goal. How many embarrassing dives did he commit in the game. :sarcasm: F*** Tim Stutzle. LOL.

Right now the Canucks are beating a lot of bad teams and banking points. When they start beating the really top end teams like they do the bottom feeders, then I'll look up.
