The Kupari pick was similar to the Kempe pick IMO.

Late 1st rounders. Similar skillsets. Similar paths to the NHL.

Kempe didn't have his breakout until he was 24. Kupari is 23 right now.

Kempe just has the "it" factor that Kupari doesn't. You've gotta play the game with some arrogance.

I remember Kupari being talked up as the best skater of the draft when he was drafted and his injury really set him back as it hampered his best asset for a bit. In the end though, like johnjm22 said, he has to develop the hands, shot, and finish to get some results from his skating.

His biggest question mark has never changed and that was if he could convert his skating to adapt to the North American game and get results and so far he hasn't really been able to find the same space/time to make it work for him on NA ice versus European rinks.
 
Not all speeders turn into offensive drivers, Lewis was one of the fastest skaters the first time he was in LA ( age has slowed him, like it does to everyone), and his career is as a defensive player.
 
Kupari looks the part, he skates well, he makes good defensive decisions, he is a big guy, he plays physical, but man when it comes time to make a play with the puck, woof.

It's like walking up to talk to the girl you've been eyeing all night and she has a smile like Bobby Clarke circa 1975.

I’m okay with it, the team is watchable this year, but I still think we need 1 more impactful forward in the line up. I’ll take a little help from the league

A good season for me is we are playing competitive hockey, but still draft in top 15 to ideally find that forward to go along with mctavish carlsson zegras terry. Clearly that’s where PV is too based on the fact we’re missing zegras and drysdale and he’s still willing to sit carlsson

It seems as if this is the 'zero expectations' step forward year which will be great for seasoning guys while next year is the okay window's starting to open, we can start adjusting the team year.

Yep see what else we can improve(silfverberg, Henrique , Jones ).

But guys like killorn vatrano gudas even strome and lybushkin have gone a long way in the culture department of the team…. Cronin def got across to guys like zegras and he’s been much improved defensively(offensively very unlucky), and guys like leason who look mikes better this year

We'll see what happens but just because he was arrested doesn't necessarily mean he did anything.

In my mid 20's I was dating an older woman who was insane. Late at night at my place she threw a glass vase at my head that missed, shards embedded in the wall. Being young and stupid I called the cops to get her out or my apartment when she wouldn't leave. They showed up and told me ever since the OJ incident when they were called to a domestic dispute one person had to go to jail. Well, I got arrested, spent the night in jail and it cost me 3Gs. Never laid a finger on her.

this looks a little dated but in mass "Arrest shall be the preferred response whenever an offic€r witnesses or has probable cause to believe that a person has committed a felony, a misdemeanor involving abuse, or an assault and battery. Mandatory arrest when a law officer has probable cause to believe person has violated a temporary or pelmanent vacate. restraining, or no-contact order or iudqment."

i would assume probable cause for non-witnessed DV would be marks or something

i dunno, non-witnessed DVs are not something i like to dip my opinion into but it's not out of character for him. also wouldn't be surprised if nothing comes out of this but it's probably career-ending no matter what. coulda just rode off into the sunset a superhero in boston but you chose to get shitfaced on friday night...
