Another case of a player being mishandled by the Kings? He had 2 points in 4 games averaging 12 mins a game. Seemed like he was producing and playing fine, but the Kings had no clue how to handle an undersized high skill winger and never game him a chance in a scoring role. I really don't see how Tkachev was the problem in his admittedly small sample size.

Possibly, but it's another one of those, would he/could he, it's 100% possible he could have been the first Kuzmenko, it's also 100% possible, the kid never had it.....hard to say definitely either way....

Really, thought he missed a fair amount of time in Carolina too.

This is Leon. League needs to start monitoring this douche

That and now with Andersson out, no way they are moving Rantaa

Getting sense Leon is getting the Malkin treatment where they try to avoid treating him like a repeat offender forever so they can say he's not a repeat offender and avoid long suspensions and I f***in hate it, the Oilers aren't just dirty, they're creatively dirty, like THOUGHTFULLY dirty, going out of their way to make non hockey plays. Will never forget the Nurse headbutt, that could have seriously putt Danault out for the year.

I think Drai is definitely dirtier than Malkin. With Malkin I always got the feeling he was right on the edge of control, very similar to Brown. I think Drai is just a douchey type that's frustrated that he's never won. Almost to the point where it seems like he feels entitled.

Maybe that's way off base and he's the nicest guy off the ice, that's just the vibe he puts out to me.

Wait, what? Either they arrested the hockey player whose skate went up awkwardly during the collision, or they arrested someone else who did something at the hospital?
I think that what they are saying is that the player intentionally kicked his skate up -- not intentionally tried to kill Johnson though.

man you know i just accidentally saw another higher quality video of the kick and realized i've been seeing it wrong all along, i thought he rolled over and backheeled him accidentally but this angle it looks like it was his left skate all along? jesus f***in christ if it was his left skate throw the book at this guy

Someone needs to teach that org how to develop players.

Or they just made a poor evaluation with a top 10 pick?

Same issue with the Kings pick that year, good motor and nice compete level but very minimal offensive talent for a player taken that high in the draft.

Oof. So still unclear who they arrested but it seems like the sentiment is the guy did it on purpose? Crazy.

UK laws are different. They have to arrest you to officially question you.

It’s very unlikely Petgrave will actually be convicted of anything. Prosecution would need to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that he intended to hurt Johnson or was individually negligent, which is close to impossible. Awkward collisions happen all the time. This one just happened to be especially horrible. The last time a player was charged for an on ice death was 1907.

Unless investigators have some kind of unreleased information that implies Petgrave was targeting Johnson or intended to hit him like this, nothing will happen.

These 5k fines the players get for semi-dangerous hits is just laughable. This fine for LD is like someone making 100k being fined $62. It's a glorified cuss jar.
Time for the NHL to re-asset their fine structure, make it %1 of a players AAV (a little over $8000 for league min) and scale it up if a suspension is involved (say an additional %1 per game).

He won’t get named unless he is charged. If they thought he did it on purpose it’d be murder not manslaughter.

Just to add…

He’s arrested and will be under ‘caution’ which means he will likely have a lawyer and he will have been read his rights. Then the custody clock begins and they get 24hrs (IIRC) in custody to charge him , apply to a judge for an extension to the clock (not easy to get) or release him without charge. They can release him on ‘police bail’ to investigate further at which point the 24hr clock is paused until he goes back to the police station.

I believe they lose their salary for the period they are suspended.

What a joke the NHL punishment system is currently. It's like your wife making you do the dishes for the week as punishment for cheating on her and it's erased from memory from that point on.

Absolutely.
More force from Draisaitl as it was aiming downward, allowing him to put more weight on it, targeting the back of the knees, instead of sticking a leg out... sorry, you have to say why Kaliyev's is 4 games worse other than "absolutely."

Results driven league as far as discipline goes. If Horvat leaves the game injured, this "trip" is suddenly a "cross check" and Drai gets a couple games. Way it's been for years sadly.
