was the verhaege hit earlier in the game. obviously not the same in severity but they were more than happy to hold "retailiatory" over kaliyev's head, they should hold "tried to headshot people twice in the same game" over mcavoy's

dops though, so obviously that's not going to happen

BTW, speaking of which, we are going to have big big issues going forward with Anaheim. MacTavish looks like he's taking that next step (and before he's old enough to buy a beer). I can't say I've seen a ton of Carlsson, but if he was judged to be on the same level as Fantilli, they are stacked up the middle.
Don't worry. Some folks here think that it's not a big deal because they remember when the Ducks were supposed to be great because of Brian Hayward mentioning Justin Schultz.

That McAvoy hit ought to be 10 games if Kaliyev got 2 presason and two regular season games for his "knee".

I think about that too.

It actually happened during a King's game I was watching when I was a kid. A King's enforcer fell without his helmet on and hit his head on the ice. I think he had to be taken off on a stretcher. It might have been Steven Finn. But I can't remember exactly.

Edit: I just came across this article. Apparently two Russian players have died since 2016 from getting hit in the head/neck from pucks. I'm surprised it doesn't happen more often.

I was at the Ryan Flinn game against the Blackhawks. It was pretty scary seeing him get wheeled off and you could hear a pin drop at staples.

Wow. On the surface that seems harsh.
Disagree. Every party did its due diligence, and Ottawa both lied about the no-trade list but also lied about one being submitted.

Imagine if we traded for a $4 million boat anchor, negotiated with another team to take him, only to find out we were stuck with that because the team didn't disclose he had a no-trade list?

Granted, he was eventually moved, but it was after the season had concluded, as the trade deadline had passed.

I.E.
I thought Dorion was making good news and finally put a decent team together.

He had a pretty good strategic mind and at least he had a vision, but he just couldn't avoid the circus following him around

Your GM should not be in the news so much imo

Reminds me a bit of when the Blues were sold in 1999. I think the story goes that one of their high ranking execs was told he wasn't being retained by the new owners. As the NHL was going through the paperwork, the exec apparently "accidentally on purpose" left evidence that the team had tampered with Scott Stevens in 1994.

St. Louis was fined 1.4 million and were forced to give the Devils a 1st rounder between 1999-2004. New Jersey also had the right to swap 1sts in a different year. Devils ended up taking the 1st in 2001 (unsexy results) and swapping in 2003 which enabled them to eventually get Zach Parise.

Understandably the new owner was a bit upset being punished for something the previous regime did.

Maybe ironically, the Devils had contract issues with 1998 1st rounder Mike Van Ryn who used a loophole to become a UFA in 2000. St. Louis ended up signing Van Ryn so that in a way replenished the first that they'd lose to the Devils.

Might be some settlement going on, i'm no lawyer but non-disclosure is a pretty serious issue

yeah i was gonna post that too, friedman's snippet makes for a good anti-andlauer opinion but listening to that presser i think he was more scathing of the NHL for not informing him appropriately. i actually respect him more for blasting that out there

NHL will of course probably fine him

Ottawa having to decide within 24 hours of the draft lottery seems a little peculiar. When the Devils were penalized for the Kovalchuk contract, they had 48 hours from when the Cup Finals was finished.

Ottawa made the conference finals in 2017 and picked #28. But had they been eliminated in the first two rounds, their first rounder would have been #19. Maybe not as huge a difference at that point if they're in the playoffs, but I wonder if the league might revise that.
