Damn, Vancouver dropped a 10 spot on the Sharks [ 10-1]. That more than the Rams scored last Sunday.

I'm kind of interested in it because it begs some questions--like, what's the potential financial value of a first round pick? Or of a 41-game suspension of a highly-thought-of prospect middle six center? How 'damaging' are those things to franchise value/image?

I see why Andlauer is pissed, not because those things exist, but because they were concealed--and Dorion obviously knew better.

Void the sale?

The Hockey Guy is calling this Sharks team possibly the worst he's ever seen. Hopefully someone loses to them before the Kings play them.
Looks like we've got a month and a half for SJ to a win game before that at least. Can't say THG is wrong, already at -35 goal differential. Even excluding last night that's a -26 in 9 games

Sharks looking like an early 90's expansion team out there.

Might as well be playing back at the Cow Palace with the likes of Jarmo Myllys, Tom Pederson, Bob McGill, Craig Coxe, etc.
They've got a ways to go to beat their single season record of 71 losses, which was in an 84 game schedule, but I think they might have a chance.

Just wait until they start to jettison their only two valuable players at the trade deadline (Couture, Hertl). Is there anyone else on that team besides those two that would be worth a draft pick?

Vancouver Canucks might be the pleasant surprise of the young season so far. They lead the league in goal differential. Anyone see that coming?

Yeah a few, and UFas to boot, so they were thinking ahead--Hoffman, Duclair, Granlund. Maybe even Blackwood. But that D core...omg. Absolutely abysmal. They are in for a few rough years.

I did not, they are playing well. They've been a lot better defensively than I thought they would be.

It does help to have played 3 games against teams that have been abysmal defensively to start the season, though. Their differential against teams with a winning record is +0, and that's only 3 games.
Regardless of their easier schedule, they've been solid in their own end.

We saw it coming, but I don't think we saw this coming. They have some decent prospects in the system but nothing clearly top level.

Lots of top 3 picks coming for sure.

Hughes with Hronek has been amazing for Quinn, best dman in the NHL this year thus far
And probably the most underrated dman in the NHL. He's a victim of the time zone difference as much as Doughty was.

Trade them Arvy for Hertl?
That would only work if Hertl was UFA next year, and he's got 6 years left or something.

This is the most interesting the Sharks have been since Irbe was their goaltender.
And Constantine was coach. I heard he just got suspended again, can't believe he coaches in the WHL. He's way too hard ass for young players.

When Treliving made those moves and gave big contracts to Huberdeau/Kadri/Weeger people around here were praising him for what a good job he did.

I mean, Huberdeau was coming off a 100 point season, and Kadri had just been a pivotal player on a Cup winner. And Weegar had a lot of upside.

All good moves on paper.

A lot of people shared this sentiment

"I think to some degree I get it becasue he 'replaces" Johnny Hockey, but if you weren't good enough with Tkachuk and everyone having basically career years, why would you suddenly be good enough with Weegar and Huberdeau, who are choke artists themselves?"
