A lot of people shared this sentiment

"I think to some degree I get it becasue he 'replaces" Johnny Hockey, but if you weren't good enough with Tkachuk and everyone having basically career years, why would you suddenly be good enough with Weegar and Huberdeau, who are choke artists themselves?"

Point taken. I wasn't talking specifically about the Kings board though. For sure there were people who didn't think it was a great idea.

Edit: scrolling through that thread I see I was dead ass wrong about Seattle and Dallas. Haha. f***en hockey.

Oh for sure. Lot of praise. And I think I in another post mentioned good on Treliving for extending the window a year or two even if it was just kicking the can of problems down the road. But all year we were hammering CGY for everyone at once having career years and called regression while the canadian media and their fans were like the best is yet to come

The Oilers continue to amaze, I think it's their year

Yep. Oilers about to lose in regulation again. I love it.

Now hopefully Vegas and Vancouver lose today.
Edmonton has been overwhelmed at ES in a lot of games this year, and that's against middling opposition. This might be Woodcroft's last game.

I do think the Oilers will eventually get it together and make the playoffs but the division is getting out of reach.

Vegas, Van, and LA are all getting a cushion early, Oilers look like a wild card is their best hope at the moment (they could pull a St Louis though).

Drai is a UFA after next season. McDavid has 2 more seasons after this before he's a UFA.

I wonder how eager they are to stay in Edmonton.

Based on what?
It's classic.

Huberdeau: a guy in his late 20's has the best season of his career that's a total outlier. Then you give him his retirement contract that doesn't kick in until he's 30. Those always go bad.

Kadri: also coming off the best season of his career. He's clearly looking to cash out. You give him an 7 year retirement contract that kicks in when he's 32.

Weeger might be okay. He's a bit younger. Not as expensive and D tend to age better.

That’s all fair and true, especially so in hindsight. But considering at the time Tkachuk wanted out, and Gadreau left for FA, a lot of people believed it was a good attempt at reshuffling the deck.

Kind of hoping the Sharks win tonight against the Penguins as a f*** you to Karlsson (and Malkin and Crosby).

God that feels disgusting to say. I might delete this later.

The division is already out of reach, they'll need to go something like 44-23-5 just to make it. So around .650 points % the rest of the way. Not impossible, but they still have almost all of their difficult opponents left.

They have a tough one vs. Vancouver, then an easy one against SJ. After that, it's a couple with Seattle with the Islanders sandwiched between, then the Florida trip with Carolina and Washington. If they go .500 until then they will have to play better than the Kings have so far this season for the remaining 3/4ths of the schedule just to make it in.

Unless they wake up quickly, I don't see it happening for them.

Holy shit.

Even all through out the wide open 1980's no one gave up 10 goals in consecutive games?

It's absolutely incredible for this to happen in the modern NHL.

Sharks have scored 1 even strength goal in their last 6 games BTW.
