i honestly don't know how guys do that. literally nothing drives me more crazy than my bucket being loose.. hard hat, welding hood, bike helmet, whatever. i want that locked down on my head

other teams are targeting Juice now, pulling his lid off so he had to leave the play and go to the bench. Seen it 3 times in 8 games. Always when they're defending too.

I'm more concered about players hitting their head on the ice or into the glass because their helmet isn't strapped on right. When Tkchuck punched Tuch a few weeks ago his helmet was off in a second and his head hit the ice after the fight. Juice is the worse offender on the Kings, his chinstrap practically touched the neck of his jersey and every time he gets hit, it moves away from protecting him. It was nearly off his head before Byrum drilled him into the boards, then he hit the ice with little protection. Still can't figure out why the league allows this to continues.
I think about that too.

It actually happened during a King's game I was watching when I was a kid. A King's enforcer fell without his helmet on and hit his head on the ice. I think he had to be taken off on a stretcher. It might have been Steven Finn. But I can't remember exactly.

Edit: I just came across this article. Apparently two Russian players have died since 2016 from getting hit in the head/neck from pucks. I'm surprised it doesn't happen more often.

Last time I remember it happening to a Kings player, although Flinn was probably TKO'd at minimum before the smash into the ice.

Faber's stat card just dropped.

Holy shit that's good for a 21yo Dman rookie.

One of the worst hits I've seen in a long time. Absolutely disgusting.

I hope 10+ games (though McAvoy has only been suspended once in his career).

threw another very similar hit earlier in the game too

if the NHL has any balls they'll ring him up for 2 separate suspensions

i'm sure they'll just p***y out and give him 3-4 to avoid the procedure

We can cheer for him when he's on Team USA in 2026.

But here we go again with the fast approach vs. the slow cook. Minnesota has him for this season and next at less than a $1m cap hit. It just gives you such an advantage to have players like this on an ELC.

BTW, speaking of which, we are going to have big big issues going forward with Anaheim. MacTavish looks like he's taking that next step (and before he's old enough to buy a beer). I can't say I've seen a ton of Carlsson, but if he was judged to be on the same level as Fantilli, they are stacked up the middle.

LAK Jack Hughes pick.. someone explain that one

They can't resist smaller centers with no scoring ability? The games against ND were on tv and he was just a non-factor, not even close to what you'd expect from a 2nd round player in his junior year of college. And yeah, the missed opportunities with that pick will be costly. Poitras, same position, same size, same age, taken 3 picks later and already looking the part in the NHL for the Bruins. With the Kings lack of LHD d-man in the system and the lack of high end skill, I still don't know why we took another C over Hutson.

@Statto not sure what you meant by “warning” graphic response? Are you implying my response was insensitive?
No. It was something I wrote about the injury and the reason inability to treat. I decided it was too insensitive. User error meant I posted it briefly.

Personally I think grandfathering in is a cop out (not directed at you). They’d get used to it soon enough.

The NHLPA should insist on it for safety not Grandfathering for reasons that will be at best about mild discomfort and worst (let’s face it more likely) ego. It was the same with helmets and visors where players who wore them by choice were often looked down on.

Edit: I posted by accident and then deleted something I thought I’d already deleted regarding the injury. I changed my mind as I decided it was not appropriate. My apologies if anyone saw it.

I think if anything the NHLPA would be the ones pushing for granfathering. Would think the Owners would be more worried about this being an issue than anyone.
I agree with you, but we all know that is not how the PA and NHL get along. Everything is a battle of give and take

Everyone knew he would be good when he was dealt. Good trade for both teams IMO
The deal was absolutely fair in terms of value. A 1st and a quality prospect.

I don't think most people expected that 10 games into his career he'd be a top pairing defensemen.

Minnesota isn't very good back there, but for sure he's the best of the bunch. He was OK against the Kings, looked great at times, other times looked like a rookie. His poise was reminiscent of Anderson, who also had that right away. He'll be a good one for sure.
