Sutter’s got a short shelf life when the team isn’t winning cups.
His track record backed this up before he came to LA. The only thing wrong with your statement is that he has a short shelf life even when winning Cups.

Actually, what is the usual tenure for a coach with one team? His shelf life might actually not be that short. Probably best to say that players have difficulty playing for him after a certain amount of time and they get really pissy when they aren't winning on top of it.

Funny to read on the Flames board that everyone is tired of Sutters bullshit. He’s good only short term but man does he wear out his welcome real quick. Good motivator short term, bad coach long term. Sutter was straight ass with the Kings toward the last couple seasons.

For all the love sutter gets from Kings fans it’s pretty sad that Murray doesn’t get any. Murray built the foundation of the cup winning team. Yeah they weren’t good at offense at all but no team could score on the Kings. That’s why I’m not a Sutter apologist. Murray was a big part of the Cup win.

Sutter gets every ounce out of players, but it's unsustainable. You can only squeeze an orange so much before it runs out of juice.

He's perfect for a team with a wide open window. Glad he went to Calgary team with holes and not Vegas, because odds are Vegas wins at least one cup, if not more.

I see Murray get a lot of love--particularly for establishing the foundation--and I don't recall anyone 'hating' him on any severe level other than that we just went as far as he could take us at that point.

Even sutter acknowledged Murray's work

And the DL interview really highlighted Sutter, he's gonna push the buttons, and even if you LIKE it, that's exhausting over a term.

Did Sutter really ask the players for that much during the regular season? I don't think he did.

His goal was to have the team ready for the playoffs, and he did that three years in a row losing only one playoff series. It was the players who failed in 2014-15, not Sutter. Dean didn't help matters by letting Richards stay on the roster.

The no food on the flight when the Kings lost a road game might have been counter productive on back to backs.

Murray got a ring that year and he deserved it

Big big move from Toronto, they've got a lot of good players on that roster.

Push the chips in to the middle of the table, Dubas.

Acciari is a sneaky food add here. Really solid bottom 6 guy who can do a bit of everything.

He's an upgrade on Foligno, that's for sure. I just don't know if they're winning a Cup until they have a #1D, and I think I like Toronto more than most. I guess the closest recent team to their defensive model are the 2018 Capitals. Carlson is a rich man's Reilly, but it was more of a shutdown-by-committee approach.

O'Reilly will definitely help there though (if he's healthy). He also lets them load up when they need a goal. This is one hell of a top 6 if you're trying to tie a game:

Bunting - Matthews - Marner
Nylander - Tavares - O'Reilly

I think O'Reilly is HUGE for them down the stretch. He's had bad luck all year. Him suddenly being an auxillary support guy instead of THE guy is an absolute luxury that deep teams have. It would be like having Kopitar behind MacKinnon. Understatedly HUGE add.

The weakness is clearly not forwards but ROR helps with the D as well.

If any of Chicago, Arizona, Montreal or any team with terrible odds wins, people will cry conspiracy.

The oft cited reason for Chicago bias is the 2007 Kane draft, but it’s conveniently forgotten that in 2004, Chicago fell from #2 and missed out on Malkin (considered to be a much better prospect than Kane) and ended up with Cam Barker.

Ernst & Young runs the draft lottery process, they are one of the big four accounting firms with a client list that makes the NHL look like a mom&pop burger joint. If anyone thinks they are risking their reputation to place unproven 18 year old kids in certain markets you are nuts.

100%. If someone is crying conspiracy or rigged in professional sports, chances are that person has no clue who is actually behind some of these processes.

Cliffy doing God's work.

NHL veteran does the funniest thing after fist bumping young Toronto fans, fans are absolutely loving it

Preds come all the way back from 2 goals down, pull the goalie and tie it with less than a minute.

30 seconds later Brodin throws it at the net from the point, it bounces off McDonagh, Hartman, and in. Gotta be demoralizing.

Great result for us, though.
