You ever get the feeling that the GMs will make so many dumb moves that eventually they’ll all be too penalized to be able to make any moves?
The league will just lock out players again to correct these mistakes.

You just get the feeling that Vancouver is gearing up to make another massively stupid move.

Just read that 2.72 million people tuned in to watch the finals. Worst number in 29 years. I’m not surprised given they did their national TV deals with cable networks. They’d have been better off long term to go with a true streaming partner like Apple or Amazon.

Tough times ahead for the NHL and all pro leagues minus the NFL and NBA. Cord cutting is an existential challenge if you want to keep all the current systems in place. It doesn’t help that the owners put a salary cap in place and the commissioner values parity and expansion over everything else.

Personally, I find myself watching less and less hockey in general. Kings or otherwise. I’ll be curious to see what the Kings and Ducks for their next live broadcast deals. This new deal with AEG and Peacock for LA Live naming rights is a positive step. Noticeably, it didn’t include Staples or Kings games.

With the loss of the Clippers as a tenant in 2024, the AEG arena is going to have an extra 40’ish nights to book. So I can see them partnering with Peacock for streaming those events from the theater and arena. But I don’t see those being hockey games which doesn’t help the Kings.

Yup DJeep. The answer isn't the NHL taking the biggest offer. The answer is getting your games out to the most people / eye balls. More games available (for free...or easy access) means more people watching, more people interested, more LT fans and more new (& young) fans. In this case (games on TV), greed is bad -- for the LT benefit of the game/league.

Serious accusations against Darryl Sutter emerge as disturbing details on his firing are revealed!

"On Oct. 29, in his postgame press conference following a 3-2 loss to Edmonton, Sutter was asked about Huberdeau leaving the ice during the game. Sutter told the media it was because Huberdeau “had to go take a sh–.” (Huberdeau actually left the ice because he tweaked something in his lower body).

"That loss was the beginning of a seven-game skid, and Sutter’s berating and erratic behavior increased. By November, the team became aware of an incident in which he was alleged to have made physical contact with a player on the bench during a game, according to three league sources, who were granted anonymity because they were not authorized to speak about the matter. Players and staff members were interviewed about the alleged incident. According to multiple league sources, the player told his teammates he did not find the contact to have crossed a line and did not want to see the matter escalated. (The player did not return The Athletic’s request to speak with him)."

I don't get it. This sounds like nothing.

Sutter is a drill instructor. What else is new?

What outlet would run this garbage?
Oh right.

This really isn't surprising given the stuff we heard about the players locking Sutter out of the locker, and the way he treated Dustin Brown. That's why coaches like Sutter tend to have a short shelf life, and the players tuned him out after his third season behind the bench in LA.

KassIan on buyout waivers. I didn’t pay enough attentio, but does he have enough left to warrant a cheap deal?

if arizona will pay him to go away I think the answer is no
You know he’s showing up for a PTO opportunity in camp. At league min, he’ll either block a prospect from the fourth line or play for the Reign for like $200k.

I think you are likely correct but it ultimately saves them cash also. Lots of decisions there are not hockey related hence my uncertainty.
