Congrats to Ex-Kings Amadio,McNabb,Martinez and Quicker
But imagine where the Kings would be without a top prospect like Alex Turcotte contributing to the team by spending a majority of his career on IR.In 2 decades posting on this board, I think the general attitude which was strongly against trading for Eichel was one of the most surprising things I can remember. He was exactly what this team needed in both the short and long term and so many people were against it.
He is a spectacular player that would have given the Kings the thing they need most to win another SC (someone better than 11 and 8) now and still been able to be a 1C for the life of his contract.
The Kings had (at the time) a deep and highly regarded prospect/u-23 player pool and a need for a 1C, instead the Kings hoard their youth, which takes a step down and Eichel is traded to a division rival and wins the Cup in his first full year there.
To make things better, the Sharks also traded Adin Hill to Vegas.Eat it, Sharks. Even Vegas has won a ring before you.

is now a good time to mention that Martinez and McNabb led the league in blocked shots?
Way better to have Blake Lizotte nearly lead the team in penalty minutes. That's a recipe for winning playoff hockey.did they say knights had a 15lbs per player advantage on the panthers??
Vegas took that Dean Lombardi mentality straight to a cup win

Blake's roster construction is just laughable. So soft. This might be a Cup contender if the year were 2045 but they haven't completely p***yfied the sport yet.
They even showed the jazz hands goal earlier in the game.Lundquist on the broadcast crew watching Quick skate with the cup again. Chokes me up.
Nice that we traded Quick so he could end his career on top.
Happy for a lot of the former King's.
9 > 97 + 34
For accuracy’s sake, Blake has his name on there twice.Quick's name on the stanley cup 3X
Blake's 1
In fairness regarding Gudas, the Kings actually tried to sign him. League stepped in and said no. Yannetti mentioned that on the podcast too.Guys like Gudas and Whitecloud were even at Kings camps
At that time it had not really sunken here in that the Kings were really trying to contend. It still seemed like they were just insulating young players to go through it all and not blocking them from the lineup while spending multiple first round picks. They are half in half out now in a lot of ways still.I realize people get emotionally invested in prospects, the same thing happens in college sports with 5 star kids. But man, to me Eichel is the type of player you throw those emotions out the window for. He would have been the Kings best player the last two playoff runs, and the Kings #1 center through his age 29 season (prime).
The most important part of a hockey team, and the toughest to acquire is a dominant #1 center. The Kings could have seamlessly gone from Kopitar to Eichel (and still had AK as a dominant 2C)) and had an elite #1 center from 2006-2007 through at least 2025-2026.
Now the laughable results from high center picks have the team rumored to be possibly looking at PLD, he isn't close to the level of Eichel.
cliff notes or a timestamp on the podcast? In fairness regarding Gudas, the Kings actually tried to sign him. League stepped in and said no. Yannetti mentioned that on the podcast too.
It was a chance to trade some lottery tickets for a legit player while keeping Byfield. At that time it had not really sunken here in that the Kings were really trying to contend. I remember it like yesterday his little girl choking post game after the win and Sutter was all concerned. Damn time flies!Vegas winning, meh whatever
Happy for our former Kings though. Crazy seeing Quick with his kids and seeing them all grown up after all these years.

Pretty sure they traded for RV and signed Danault by that point.
Got to give every prospect seven years though.
