Thank goodness the Kings never traded for that soft can’t step up when it matters Eichel. Dodged that bullet.

In 2 decades posting on this board, I think the general attitude which was strongly against trading for Eichel was one of the most surprising things I can remember. He was exactly what this team needed in both the short and long term and so many people were against it.

He is a spectacular player that would have given the Kings the thing they need most to win another SC (someone better than 11 and 8) now and still been able to be a 1C for the life of his contract.

The Kings had (at the time) a deep and highly regarded prospect/u-23 player pool and a need for a 1C, instead the Kings hoard their youth, which takes a step down and Eichel is traded to a division rival and wins the Cup in his first full year there.

I've been watching him all game. He is happy for his teammates but you can tell he doesn't have "I just won the cup" energy. He is just kind of along for the ride.
Agree. Hard to feel too invested when you barely played and didn't contribute much on the ice.

Has to be weird to be traded to the Cup winner when you have the career he's had as a "break glass in case of emergency" acquisition. But man, watching that handoff made me find a way to hate Rob even more.

Pretty funny that Quick went so early in raising the cup. Makes sense that Martinez was the one handing it to him but he went before 2/3 the team including Eichel.

I mean, in the last 10 minutes of the game or so Quick was smirking and smiling at his teammates, but he was definitely not celebrating. Even in the pile after the buzzer, he was essentially going around telling guys congrats and to savor it, etc. It's bittersweet, but given what happened, there are certainly worse ways to go out. Sad he didn't touch playoff ice though.
